[~geertjan]:

The NetBeans' File > Import Project menu option allows only for "Eclipse
Project" and "From Zip." I can see no way to import the folder within the .zip
file. It doesn't seem to be a "project." It's just a folder with multiple
folders (Ch. 1, Ch. 2, ... Ch. 6) and files within it. Nothing I double clicked
resulted in the opening of a NetBeans project.

Description:
I'm following the Linkedin learning course [Learn
Netbeans|https://www.linkedin.com/learning/learning-netbeans/] which has
exercise files to download and import into NetBeans. I imported the .zip file.

NetBeans began opening the file/project, got to 10%, then halted. There were 2
more operations remaining.

The .zip "Exercise Files" (5.6MB) that failed to open is at [Learning
NetBeans|https://www.linkedin.com/learning/learning-netbeans/welcome] though
one may need to have a LinkedIn account to access it. I attempted to attach it
here but got an error message: "An internal error has occurred. Please contact
your administrator."

I have placed it in a Dropbox folder and will issue an invitation to access the
folder to anyone.

 Fix For: 12.3

I'm a new user. I wanted to explore plugins. I clicked on Install Plugins on
your initial startup screen. The first plugin, Backup?, was highlighted. The
highlight flickered on and off. The program froze. Nothing worked including the
close button (red button on upper left). I had to force quit. Note, in force
quit, the app did not report as non-responsive.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-2101) Can't attach javadoc to jar file (No javadoc for <...>.jar avalible)

2019-02-09 Thread Alexander (JIRA)
Alexander created NETBEANS-2101:
---

Summary: Can't attach javadoc to jar file (No javadoc for
<...>.jar avalible)
 Key: NETBEANS-2101
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2101
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Components: java - Javadoc, platform - Help System, projects -
Libraries
Affects Versions: 9.0
 Environment: From NetBeans About:
Product Version: Apache NetBeans IDE 9.0 (Build
incubator-netbeans-release-334-on-20180708)
Java: 10.0.2; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 10.0.2+13
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 10.0.2+13
System: Windows 10 version 10.0 running on amd64; Cp1251; ru_RU (nb)
User directory: C:\Users\Mingun\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\9.0
Cache directory: C:\Users\Mingun\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\9.0
Reporter: Alexander
 Attachments: 1. Attach Javadoc.png, 2. Try download.png, 3. No Attach
Javadoc.png

I try to study NetBeans and I want to receive JavaDoc for its components.
Carrying out the tutorial
[https://platform.netbeans.org/tutorials/nbm-visual_library3.html], I saw that
for modules there is no documentation. Therefore I tried to add it, but at me
it did not turn out.

At first I tried to find the plugin with NetBeans API documentation which
existed for version 8.x, but it is missing for version 9.0.

Then I tried to load documentation, following by link *Attach Javadoc...* from
the hint and having pressed the button *Download*. However never downloaded:
 !1. Attach Javadoc.png!
 !2. Try download.png!

Then I tried to attach Javadoc ZIP archive, however I did not find it anywhere
on the netbeans site. It in general exists?

Then I tried to attach online documentation, having pressed the button *Add
URL...* and having entered
[https://bits.netbeans.org/9.0/javadoc/org-netbeans-api-visual]. This operation
was performed successfully, however documentation to classes did not appear,
and moreover, even an opportunity to enter something else was gone from the
hint as now the link *Attach Javadoc...* was gone:
 !3. No Attach Javadoc.png!

At the same time at the time of a hint popup the following information logged
to *IDE Log*:
{noformat}
WARNING [org.netbeans.modules.java.source.JavadocHelper]:
JavadocForBinaryQuery.Result: class
org.netbeans.modules.java.j2seplatform.queries.QueriesCache$Javadoc returned
non-folder URL: https://bits.netbeans.org/9.0/javadoc/org-netbeans-api-visual,
ignoring
{noformat}
So questions:
 # Why it is not possible to load documentation automatically? It in general is
possible? From where does it try to be loaded? In *IDE Log* there is no
information on that from where there is an attempt to load it
 # Where to take javadoc archive of NetBeans modules, it is desirable to all in
one archive at once? How then to attach it?
 # -How to remove the incorrect reference to javadoc? Where to be stored
information on allegedly existence of javadoc?- Ok, find that. Need to remove
file */config/Preferences/org/netbeans/modules/java/j2seplatform/Javadoc.properties*
 # What path must be entered in *Add URL...*?
 # How to open the *Select Javadoc* ([^2. Try download.png]) window not from
the hint?

 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Kae'Lyn Alexander
Assignee: Kae'Lyn Alexander

Suddenly when looking for netbeans source project files, netbeans closed and
ALL my files and projects created suddenly disappeared and are no where to be
found. COMPLETELY EMPTY. and I had several projects due tonight. I'm glad we
were required to copy our code otherwise I'd be stuck.

[jira] [Updated] (NETBEANS-1267) Jar file produced in dist directory gives no main manifest error

2018-09-19 Thread Philip Alexander (JIRA)

Philip Alexander updated NETBEANS-1267:

Description:
When a user creates a simple java modular application (using Netbeans 9 + JDK
10.0.2), then the jar that is created by Ant (via right click on project and
then asking for Build) doesn't behave as an executable jar.

Additionally if one creates a jar via the

jar --create --file=output_file.jar
--main-class=fully.qualified.classpath.ClassName -C .\modules\my_module_name .

command, then the manifest file from the executable correct jar that is created
via command line cannot be used inside the jar inside dist directory as
produced by netbeans.

Attached you can find a simple java modular application as created by Netbeans
9, wherein you can find both the jar produced by netbeans 9 inside the dist
directory and the hand created jar file by me inside the
build/JAR_VIA_COMMAND_LINE directory.

Can anyone verify whether it's an Ant (build.xml) issue?
