What if you right click on "Databases" and select "Register MySQL Server" first?

I got it to work eventually too if I create new connections without doing
registration and just focus on that, so not sure now if having list of
databases under registered server is important.

I have not experienced this during my test run (though there were other
negative consequences from restoring the table), but I believe any issue that
involves unreliable backup to be highest priority, not minor. A backup must be
the most trustworthy operation of all features. It is a go-to-thing after
experimenting with with code, or database schema in this case. When want to
undo bad work with a backup such as this table grab and it fails, lost work can
become a serious liability to the developer.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-1488) Filtering data is not clear if not found because does not exist, or not loaded within max rows

2018-10-21 Thread Alexander Romanenko (JIRA)

-

 Summary: Filtering data is not clear if not found because does not
exist, or not loaded within max rows
 Key: NETBEANS-1488
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-1488
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

[http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/389/v/2]

Step 5.7

When filtering using Matching Rows for rows that are known to be in the table,
they do not show up, if they have not been loaded within the max rows
constraint.

There is no indication of whether there was no match because it was not loaded,
or because my max rows was too low.

 Summary: Pagination max rows not possible to increase.
 Key: NETBEANS-1487

 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

Step 5.6
 # Alter limit of max rows. - OK
 # Close query. Open again.
 # Alter limit of max rows to lower number - OK
 # Alter limit of max rows to **original, or anything higher than last number
of max rows. - Only lower numbers are modifying the query.
To view full result set again, need to set the max rows, press enter, close the
data view tab, reopen, and then it will be applied. So it changes the max rows
internally, but does not refresh on numbers greater than current.

Alexander Romanenko created NETBEANS-1484:

 Summary: Cannot add row after table restore
 Key: NETBEANS-1484
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-1484
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

NetCat 10
[http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/389/v/2]

If try to redo step 5.1 after step 4.1, insert fails with "test_table does not
exist.

Using external database tools there are no problems inserting data, so the
table is indeed restored correctly.

Inserting to manually created table works fine.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-1483) Cannot delete constraint indexes

2018-10-21 Thread Alexander Romanenko (JIRA)
Alexander Romanenko created NETBEANS-1483:

 Summary: Cannot delete constraint indexes
 Key: NETBEANS-1483

 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug

[http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/389/v/2]

Step 4.3 using PostgreSQL

If follow previous steps to create unique constraints, they show up as indexes.
Trying to delete that constraint causes error:
ERROR: index "index_name" does not exist.

Probably because some database engines have different syntax for dropping index
vs constraint (which in itself is a form of index)

Alexander Romanenko edited comment on NETBEANS-624 at 10/21/18 2:58 PM:

Going through this in NetCat 10

What syntax error did you get?

I am wondering if this is OK behavior, because one cannot logically have a
unique column that has a default value, as it will imply the table user is
allowed to omit values of that column letting the database use Default value,
causing multiple rows to have this default value, thus violating Unique
constraint.

Same for Null vs Not Null. if columns are allowed to be left without value at
all, they are not going to be unique.

Interestingly, PostgreSQL that I am testing this on allows for this logical
faults during creation, but then no INSERT query works causing essentially
broken table. Your engine seems to be smarter about this.  Perhaps a proposed
solution could be to have the UI be aware of logical inconsistency - eg.
disable unique checkbox if default is not empty, vice versa, etc.

I did get same error. So I can probably close this as invalid.

Out of curiosity, how difficult would be to change plugin to use composer
create project (for symfony, zend, etc.) the way its listed in official docs
instead of installers?

I downloaded manually whatever is available at
[https://github.com/symfony/symfony-installer] and pointed symfony
configuration paths to it. I could only guess that is the right place, since
there was no link to download it (the way zend framework does) nor a composer

Its a fundamental version control workflow. If trust it and it fails, work is
lost.

Consider:
 * You are on feature branch with work in progress code.
 * Need to do a bug fix, not ready to commit WIP code. Or not even a bug, just
need to see for any reason how the code works without current modifications. So
you stash the changes.
 * Do whatever needs done on clean version.
 * Trying to restore WIP code from stash to go back to original task. It fails.
I lose work.

The scary part is, I cannot reproduce it today and I am not sure whats
different in the test netcat project of that day.  Were you able to reproduce
it?

 Summary: Create new column datatype - use autocomplete instead
 Key: NETBEANS-1379

 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Improvement
  Components: db - DB schema
Affects Versions: 10.0
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

Databases like PostgreSQL have a variety of column types beyond what is offered
in static dropdown. Would be nice to be able to freely type in the column
datatype besides what is offered.

Alternatively, could detect database driver, and offer column types specific to
it, but maintaining each vendor would be more work than offering an
autocomplete with current suggestions.

[jira] [Updated] (NETBEANS-1367) PHP frameworks: End of Life or outdated installers.

Description:
Zend Framework 1 and Symfony 1 are EOL.

Zend 2 not _exactly_ EOL in favor of 3, but some parts of it are, difficult to
tell because it is no longer a monolithic framework that one "installs". This
leads to another problem of frameworks listed (not the tools like PHPUnit)
being configured as if there is a global external zipped library that gets
referenced.

_Composer create-project_ <_packagist/repository>_ command has been the
standard across all frameworks. There is no more "symfony installer" or "zend
skeleton application zip" one can download anymore.

I propose removing application level frameworks from the list, until the plugin
has caught up with composer workflow:
 * Nette2
 * Symfony (EOL)
 * Symfon 2/3
 * Zend (EOL)
 * Zend 2
 * PHPUnit skeleton generator (not the main phpunit)

(I did not test utility level frameworks, that may be its own problem)

EDIT: tested:

PhpUnit - passed

Doctrine 2 - failed.

HOWEVER, the scripts are global to netbeans, not per project, which is a
problem because these frameworks are unique to each project's _vendor_
sub-directory.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-1373) Add class namespace to use block

 Summary: Add class namespace to use block
 Key: NETBEANS-1373
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-1373
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Wish
  Components: php - Code
Affects Versions: 10.0
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

Auto completion always uses FQDN of classes.

After a short while there are lots of very long namespaced classnames. Many are
repetitive. Would be useful to either have autocomplete to put the namespace
into use block, or to add refactoring tool to do this.

  Components: php - Zend
Affects Versions: 10.0
Reporter: Alexander Romanenko

 * Nette2
 * Symfony (EOL anyway)
 * Symfon 2/3
 * Zend
 * Zend 2
 * PHPUnit skeleton generator (not the main phpunit)

(I did not test utility level frameworks, that may be its own problem)
