Source for OpenMoko Flasher (MacOS X) now available

2007-09-20 Thread Dr. H. Nikolaus Schaller

Dear all Mac users with a Neo,
I have now found time to add a GPL license and make a source package.

You can find it at http://www.dsitri.de/wiki.php?page=OpenMoko%20Flasher

I would be happy if you could submit patches so that OpenMoko Flasher
can be improved further.

Happy OpenMoko Flashing,
Nikolaus Schaller

Hello,

I want to use debug board, so I insert ftdi_sio module in PC
(modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x1457 product=0x5118).

Now it can use correctly in u_boot(input/output), it can also print

but can not input after kernel boot.

Any suggestion?

I have 3 questions about cellular phones certification:

Corean company FIC releases Neo 1973 smartphone:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Main_Page/ru

So:
Is it certified by Rostest?
How much certification will cost?
Which certification procedure you can offer?

Thanks, Anatoly

And i got answer:
Greetings, Anatoly

I need to know:
- Is you a manufacturer?
- Have you a contract with manufacturer and are you a reseller?
- Want you to import producion? How much amount?

Cost and procedure of certification depends of it.

Svetlana, Rostest

(my English is very average, sorry for mistakes)

Is anyone from manufacturers or team, who interested in certification Neo
1973 in Russia?
Can we acts cooperatively?

Hey, so far noone has been trying to keep Neo out of the market. Don't be
judgmental yet.

However, I envision it can be a hard time certifying a piece of phone
hardware without the accompanying software. If the software can be changed
by the user any minute, the phone at any given time may or may not comply
to various regulations (like, e.g., speaking the GSM protocol correctly).

Again, that part is handled by the GSM chip, which has closed firmware.

That's precisely why the GSM firmware is locked inside the TI Calypso module.

Neo 1973 certifications in Russia - 2

2007-09-20 Thread fic
Today i got answer from Rostest:

---
We don't publish information about cost of certifications, because
cost depents of production, amount of tests, certification schema, and
deviates
in some interval.

1. If you want to import 3-10 items, you can make delivery certificate.
It's cost 200$ + tax
2. If manufacturer or his representative decide to make certificate for
serial
manufacturing of this production (for 1 year) - 900$ + tax
3. If you want to import large amount of production - 876$ + tax

I confised about cost treshold. I think that Rostest needs to test 1 item.
Others phones are
similar.
Secondary - its looks unexpectedly easy. At this moment only money
matters. I will continie
to dig information. _It will be great, if i can contact with someone of
FIC officials, for solving
certification problems_.

I am not pro in certifications. Have you any advices?
