[Om2008.9] new 4 Gbyte microSD card

Hello,

I've bought a new 4 GByte SanDisk card which says on boot in
/var/log/messages:

Jan 8 10:31:20 om-gta02 user.info kernel: [3.395000] mmcblk0: mmc0:e624

Jan 8 10:31:20 om-gta02 user.err kernel: [3.41] mmcblk0: error -110
sending read/write command
Jan 8 10:31:20 om-gta02 user.warn kernel: [3.415000] end_request: I/O
error, dev mmcblk0, sector 0
...

and

r...@om-gta02:~# fdisk /dev/mmcblk0
fdisk: cannot read from /dev/mmcblk0
r...@om-gta02:~# ls -l /dev/mmc*
brw-r-1 root disk 179, 0 Jan 31 2000 /dev/mmcblk0

What I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any hint.

Hi,

from your log, it appear that the kernel you are running is Linux version
2.6.29-rc3-v26. I uploaded a new version of the packages that should fix this
issue.
If not, can you please send me the result of
ls /boot/

Hi,

I had a similar issue saying that the modem cannot be initialized.
After apt-getting your new packages qpe starts again. Thanks!

[SHR] Missing 'close application' button

2011-01-08 Thread Alexander Lehner

Sorry, I'm too lazy to search for this in the mailing list archive:

I remember there was a posting about the missing ability to close
an, or switch between application(s) by clicking the top-bar free space
(showed '< X >' in previous releases).
And this should be able to re-enable by some obscure SHR/them/desktop
settings, as far I remember.

Can someone give me a hint?

I have the (latest) SHR release from 2010-12-18.

Thanks,

Alex.

Nope - that's exactly what I'm missing.
And that's one of the most outstanding features that makes the FR better
than a single-application device like the iPhone ;)

What I did to get it fixed:
- click on the 'wrench' icon in the top-bar
- choose 'Settings' (green SHR icon)
- choose 'Profiles'
- choose 'Default', then press 'OK'
- had to go through all initial setup steps again (provider, password,
profile etc).

Then the prev/close/next buttons are available.

BUT THEN:
When I did the same steps above again (to verify that my description was
corrent), I got TWO prev/close/next buttons beyound each other!

And you can repeat this step, adding more and more prev/close/next buttons ;)

BTW will this set-up not survive a reboot; after that, the prev/close/next
buttons are lost again.

Well, another issue is the CPU, but in contrairy of what Microsofts advocats
claim
no matter if even the managers had to give me right, is that hardware can not
be changed by software :-)
So for the 1GHz OpenMoko we must wait until it's available.

Okee, did you upgrade from a very old installation?
I don't have this issue...

You can run the enlightenment wizard again to get that bar on the shelf
back; or if you feel lazier, delete .e (in that way you'll lose your
illume customizations):

/etc/init.d/xserver-nodm stop
rm -rf ~/.e*
/etc/init.d/xserver-nodm start

as Martin Jansa suggested on the shr ml

those buttons are provided by the 'shr_elm_softkey' application

add a line with 'shr_elm_softkey.desktop' to
~/.local/share/applications/startup/.order

that should be: ~/.e/e/applications/startup/.order

That's true, and it's there (with the entry).
Also shr_elm_softkey exists, and when I start it manually, the buttons
appear.

(sorry did a bad copy-paste... time to sleep)

Yes, that's also true for me!

OK - I understand.

I now have done following trick to workaround this problem:

In /usr/share/applications/shr_elm_softkey.desktop

I changed

NoDisplay=true
to
NoDisplay=false

That gives me an additional application icon which I can use to add the
missing buttons in the toolbar.

Thanks to all posters for their help,

Alex.

Re: Freerunner doesn't boot properly after upgrading to QtMoko v31

2011-01-08 Thread Bernie Schelberg
Thanks Vincent,

I had wondered if that was wrong when I checked with uname. Anyway, I
just did another apt-get dist-upgrade, and it upgraded 3 more packages -
qtmoko-kernel-images, qtmoko-kernel and qtmoko. This time it requested
confirmation to change /boot/append-GTA02 which I'm sure it didn't do
when I did the dist-upgrade yesterday. And my phone now boots properly!!

Thanks,
Bernie
