Nice. For me lock button is the most used button. I use it for suspending (on
GTA04 i have that it suspends after 3s when locked).

[qtmoko] dpkg-reconfigure locale resizes most of the fonts and no gps fix possible anymore(?)

2012-08-24 Thread robin
hi all

I wanted to have the new anki 2.0 flash cards on my GTA, but it always
complained that it the system was not set to UTF8. In the end I succeeded by
running dpkg-reconfigure locale but since then my fonts are very large (not
everywhere but on most screens) and this is for all themes. Also since then
I cannot get a fix for NeronGPS anymore ;-( even though the finxi home
screen tells me that /dev/ttySAC1 has up to 9 satelites and the output seems
to show satelites as well. Same behaviour with navit.
Any help welcome as I really like the GTA02 for navigating/maps and for
flashcard learing.

Robin

Re: [QtMoko] MokoFaen theme, update

2012-08-24 Thread robin
Hi,

I really like your theme a lot just as it is. Personally I would reduce the
top bar even more in size to give the applications as much of the screen as
possible. What I also liked in the new finxi theme is the ability to see the
current power consumption. If the keyboard toggle is moved to the middle of
bottom bar the keyboard in the top bar is not needed anymore and the free
space could be used to display the power consumption.
For the dialer I just have one wish: Included a recent calls button. I need
this quite often, much more often than the addressbook, so that would be very
nice to have.
Regarding the color theme I think having it with the most contrast is the
really the best, because then you could reduce the backlight even more to
save power and you screen still stays brisk and readable. Some source for
color themes may also be:

http://colorusage.arc.nasa.gov/bkg_1.php
http://colorusage.arc.nasa.gov/ColorTool.php
http://colorusage.arc.nasa.gov/design_lum_1.php

from the NASA website and for them it should be really crucial to be good at
designing readable themes.

best regards and again many thanks for mokofaen!

isn't conky only for X11?

Yes it is, but I'm looking at conky just to have some inspiration.
Indeed I don't know if it is possible to use conky under QtMoko and if
it's convenient to use it.

- After a series of test, at least on my GTA02, the use of the
lock-screen button in the home screen causes several freezes. So now
I'm using the power button to put my GTA02 in suspend and I'm going
to remove the lock-screen button from the homescreen.

I never experienced freezes and really like the lock button but could
live without it.

Mmm ok, maybe it's just an issue on my GTA02, I don't know if it's a
common issue.

So for now the lock-screen button will stay there (:

If I had one wish: would it be possible to optionally position the
buttons on the right side? Im left-handed ;)

I'll see what I can do ;)
