Triggering Literki from command line?
Hey everyone, is there a way to make literki pop up from the command line? I want it to happen from within a shell script. Hackable:1 does it somehow, but I can't figure it out from the source code. The voltage of Alkali based batteries will decrease over time, so that often they will not be able to power an electronic device even though they are not fully discharged. Lithium batteries are best for things like the WikiReader because the voltage stays constant for the most part. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

A message on the front of the Wiki would be nice. Another poll that should be done at some point is what phone-front end people use. Re: Not really yet usable. but an idea for multitouch
Hi, I have been researching Multi-Touch for the past year as a Hobbyist, and I consider myself somewhat well versed in the technology:) While that method would definately work, its obviously going to be cumbersom and not portable at all. I have been experimenting with a method of Multi-Touch that uses an array of Phototransistors, and I currently have a 8x8 Array working very well(3x3 Inch active sensing area, plenty to cover the FreeRunner's screen). Its only issue is speed, which is going to be fixed soon with my Digi-Key order that is on its way. Mine obviously isn't perfect either, when I built it I had a more Laptop/Tablet shaped device in mind(just because the array is ~1/4 inch thick), but I do believe it will be easily adaptable. Here is a link to my site where I have a video and explaination on an older test I did: http://www.xelapond.com/dotclear/index.php?post/2009/06/04/Code%2C-Schematics%2C-Diagrams And here is a picture of my newest version, 8x8 array: http://www.xelapond.com/files/r1-8x8-angle.jpg In the near future I plan on somehow interfacing this to the freerunner. I will probably have to separate the screen from the device, and place this behind it(so I can interact with elements on the screen). I'm very passionate about Multi-Touch, if you do get anything with a WiiMote working, be sure to post a link+vid:) I'd love to see it. ~Alex Teiche On Sun, Aug 30, 2009 at 4:56 AM, Lothar Behrens wrote: > Hi, > > I have seen this video and due to a wide angle, a similar solution may > be adaptable: > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s5EvhHy7eQ&feature=related > > Any comments? > > Lothar > > -- | Rapid Prototyping | XSLT Codegeneration | http://www.lollisoft.de > Lothar Behrens > Heinrich-Scheufelen-Platz 2 > 73252 Lenningen > > > > > > > > > > ___ > Openmoko community mailing list > community@lists.openmoko.org > http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community > ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
New Freerunner Owner wants to help out!
Hello Everyone, I have had my Freerunner for 2-3 Months now(A6 no buzzfix), and I feel like I finally have the time to help out:) I sent an email a while ago asking about peoples recommendations for developing a new chat app, but I never found the time to get started. I am 100% self taught, but I consider myself proficient in Python and most C. I have done quite a bit of work with embedded electronics(Mostly AVRs and ARM7s, and some FPGA stuff), but definately not enough to be of much help on the GTA02-Core project. Can you guys recommend the best way for me to help out? I would love to learn about and work on the kernel level, but I know next to nothing regarding this. Can you suggest a way that I could learn short of asking a lot of dumb questions on IRC?:P I have written some of my own things with Python and Elementary, which projects need the most help/what important applications are we lacking the most? Re: [all] Don't answer a call by turning FR upside down..
I feel like this would be more of an annoyance then a feature during normal use. Like Risto said, putting it in your pocket could be annoying. However, I feel like this could be really useful in stands, e.g. car mount. If you don't want to recieve calls while in the car(but are using the GPS, for example), then just put it in the stand/holder/mount upside down. As long as there is a way to turn it off easily, it sounds good:) On Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 3:43 PM, Risto H. Using SPI for More Devices?
Hello, I was wondering if anybody has every done anything/knows anything about using the SPI within the Neo to communicate with more devices. I have used SPI on Atmel's AVR Line, so I know how it works, but I have never used it from within Linux before. Has anyone done something like this before? Is there documentation somewhere that would help me if I do want to do this? I want to be able to talk to an MCP3008, which is a 10-bit ADC made by Microchip. Thanks! Re: [CU] voting required
I like V1, but there has to be some sort of clear defining line that defines the border between two of them(line, etc). It would also be really great if it had either V3 or V4's table, as that is really nice. Re: Freerunner Chat Application: Suggestions wanted!
Wow everyone, thanks for all your suggestions! @Michael: Thanks for the offer, but I don't think its really worth the learning curve of figuring out your whole code base. We've got how many GPS or Web Browser apps now? Two more IM Clients can't hurt:) Here are the things I have decided to implement for now: * GUI Is definately going to be Elementary * Backend is _probably_ going to be telepathy, though I am still considering libpurple * I am going to start from scratch, not write a new GUI for Pidgin. I would rather stay away from Pidgin after the whole forking over text box resizing fiasco last summer. * I will not implement IRC, because I assume most people that would want to IRC from the FreeRunner know how or have set up an irssi+screen server somewhere. * I am trying to keep the scope of this very low, and just support the basic necessities of a chat program(including conurrent sessions). A lot of apps on the FreeRunner are pretty slow, and I don't think hardware is solely to blame. I would rather have a faster program then a more featureful one. * I am going to avoid small buttons, and instead opt for a large menu that can pull down. Thanks again for your encouragement everyone! Freerunner Chat Application: Suggestions wanted!
Hello everyone, I recently recieved my A6 FreeRunner, and have been looking for some coding to do:) I plan on writing a chat application(similar to Pidgin) optomized for the small screen. I was wondering what suggestions the community had before I get too far into it. What UI elements do you recommend I keep out front/put back in menus to save space? Which protocols have the highest demand for implementation? How should it deal with multiple concurrent chat sessions? How should the user be notified when a new chat message is recieved? Should logging be implemented? Any other ideas/suggestions? We all have our own opinions on these issues, so I just wanted a sense of what the greater community thought. ~xelapond ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
