Re: Hardwarefixing at 26c3?
Hi there, Hi, I'm at the 26c3 and my phone needs a buzzfix as well. I checked out http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/1024#Bug_detection and started the script mentioned on the top of the page after setting ti_calypso_deep_sleep = always and got only very few messages every other minute but with same cid. Neither did I get any logs about recamping in /var/log/frameworkd.log after setting ti_calypso_deep_sleep = adaptive. So I believe I don't suffer from bug #1024, but I'm not sure because my phone does not connect to GSM anymore if I don't set ti_calypso_deep_sleep = never. I think I need a #1024-fix, too, I basically have the same problem (well, except for the does not connect to GSM anymore-part, I think). Because the bug detection script did not output any results the first time I tried, I just activated ti_calypso_deep_sleep and used that for a while, but it seemed to drain my battery even faster than without this option - I assume this is another symptom of bug #1024. So how do we meet up at 26c3? I second this question, I would like the fix, too :) Cheers Jan Regards, Konstantin ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

My Freerunner worked fine with my O2 Germany 3G card from October 2006 and works fine with my new O2 Germany 3G card from July 2008. If you are unlucky enough to have one of those non-working sim cards you have a good change to get a working one (3G) by changing it in your local O2 store. Actually, it's not quite that easy. I changed my non-functional O2 SIM in an O2 store, and got another non-funcional one ;) But if you kindly ask if you may have a look at the SIM in advance, you can check if the SIM has the problematic chip layout or not (see the bug entry in trac for pictures) - worked for me. I think the problem is that the NAND configuration (that is, the configuration for the menu items in the NAND menu) is stored on a seperate partition from the uboot, so reflashing won't change it (actually, this is probably a good thing, because that way you don't have to rebuild your custom boot menu everytime you update your uboot). I fixed that by asking someone in the irc-channel to kindly send me a backup of his u-boot_env partition and flashing it on my freerunner. Hi there! Hi community! Just want to drop a line that I today made my first bike ride with a Freerunner mounted on the handle bar of my bike. [x] Interested! :) It's a universal mobile phone bike-mount-kit by LesCars (don't want to push the brand, but there are only few mount-kits for bikes out there) [1]. All ports (USB, GPS, audio) and the 2 buttons are usable with this mount-kit. With tangoGPS I had a lot of fun riding around town exploring new roads for Openstreetmap. ;) The next step would be a dynamo-powered charger for the Freerunner. I read an article in the german computer magazine ct [2] about creating a converter for charging USB devices while riding your bike with a hub-dynamo. The article provides detailed instructions for building it yourself, but I don't have the necessary soldering skills. So I'll have to ask soldering-experts... ;) Interestingly, that's precisely the thing I had in mind. I just bought a bike today, and am planning to somehow build the c't usb-charger for a bike (probably with some friends with soldering-skills, too ;) ) some time in the not too distant future. Re: Warranty after fix for GTA02 GPS rework for SD card interferenceissue
Hi there! I'm not Andy obviously, but I think I still can answer that one ;) Hi Andy, I'm the guy who said that. Actually I based my observation on the fact that i saw an entry of 10/x/y as the endmost entry on the TangoGPS status line. Isn't that supposed to mean that it still has fixes from 10 satellites. So I thought it must be a SNR issue and the capacitor fix is supposed to help on that ... right? Actually, the first number in 10/x/y in TangoGPS' status line represents the number of visible satellites, not the number of fixes you got. So if it says 10/0/x, that means you can see 10 satellites, but don't have a fix (because, for example, the signal is too weak). So it's quite normal you didn't get a gps trace if the second number was 0.
