I sent my GTA02 for Ruben today.
I'm pretty sure he will make good use of it. He also might be a valuable
member in this community.

Giving GTA02 with hardware issues

2013-05-25 Thread Mossroy
Hi all,

I'm giving my GTA02 (A7).
I think it might be used to convert to a GTA04, or maybe for some other use.
The phone has several years of daily use (bought in July 2009), but is
still in good shape. Except for the back cover that removes itself a bit
too easily. I can send photos if necessary.

In any case, it has some hardware issues since a few months : when
running on battery, it switches off after a few seconds or minutes, even
if the battery is fully charged. When plugged through USB, it seems to
work fine (on QtMoko). The screen is ok (no dead pixel, very few scratches)

I'm just asking to give it a second life in a useful way, and to pay for
shipping (from France).
I'm hoping it might help this community in some way.

Regards,
Mossroy

Re: [Om2008.9] screen locking application?

2012-03-05 Thread Mossroy

Another approach would be to use a software like prey :
http://preyproject.com/ [3] . There's a debian package :
http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/prey [4]

It would only be relevant
if you have a permanent Internet connection.

It periodically checks on
a server if your machine has been reported as lost/stolen. If so, it can
run several types of actions on the machine, including :

- trying to
geolocate it (based on the wifi networks it can reach) : might work on
QtMoko

- delete emails, stored passwords etc : might work if you
modify the scripts to delete the files/directories you want

- and many
other features that probably won't work out-of-the-box on QtMoko (take a
screenshot, lock the device, take a photo with a webcam etc)

It sends
these info to the server, or by email.

I use it successfully on my
netbook, with a private server. Maybe it would be worth trying it on
QtMoko.

It does not encrypt anything, but can at least delete
sensitive information, and give you hints to find the phone.

NB : note
that there seems to be some criticisms on the security of prey :
http://www.shrp.me/docs/dont_use_prey.php [5]

Any other ideas for cool qt apps that you would like on QtMoko?
I would really love to be able to use Evopedia on QtMoko :

It's a great offline wikipedia viewer. You can access all the content of
wikipedia (except images) through dumps stored on the SD card.

I've been trying to recompile it for QtMoko without success.

Re: qtmoko calendar / google calendar

2011-04-03 Thread mossroy

I uploaded a version 0.6 of the script on http://mossroy.free.fr/ics2qtcal/
It includes small fixes and improvements, based on the feedback of
Weslay Frazier on an Office online calendar.

Hope it might be useful to some of you.

Pretty neat to have my calendar on my phone now. Thinking about
wrapping it up in a cron job so it automatically tries to sync every
two hours or so.

I uploaded a version 0.5 of the script on
http://mossroy.free.fr/ics2qtcal/
It now can handle correctly the date/times that are given in UTC
format (which was the case in the test ics file you sent me,
generated by google calendar)

Please test it and let me know if it's ok for you.

Google Calendar does not preserve the timezone data in the ics file.
It may present the entries in UTC or something.

If there was a command-line option to just specify a time offset, I
think that would be enough for me.

If you would like a test google calendar / ics file let me know. I can
provide one.

Thanks!

I suppose you don't use the same timezone in google calendar and
in QtMoko.

I'll look into it, to see if I can fix that in the code.

Any other issues with this script?

Re : QtMoko calendar

Thomas Bellembois wrote :

Is there a plan to develop a sync tool on QTMoko ?

Thomas,
I developed a very simple script that overwrites the content of QtMoko Calendar
with the content of one or several iCal Files (.ics) that can be retrieved with
HTTP
It works well enough to suit my needs, and the code is published here :
http://mossroy.free.fr/ics2qtcal/
Note that this is not a two-way synchronization : only one-way

Anyway, it should still be considered as a work-in-progress, that should be
improved at least in the following ways :
- add a way to launch the script from an icon in QtMoko (currently it must be
launched from command-line)
- package the scripts, so that they can be installed easily (.deb ? .pkg?)
- add a GUI?

I would be glad to have some feedback on this script, and some help on the
items listed above (I do not have much time to spend on it, and it already
suits my needs)

Mossroy
