The invalid magic error message is usually caused by a corrupted package.
Did you just copy-paste the link from the bugtracker (the attachment)? The
link shown on the page leads to a preview page which isn't the actual
package. Click the link in a browser and you'll get to a page where this
link is shown:
https://docs.openmoko.org/trac/raw-attachment/ticket/1267/qtopia-phone-x11-phonevendor-ficgta01vendor_4.3.2%2Bgit2%2B13101ab6ddaec380871ae8021a92140af526c4df-r38.05_om-gta02.opk

FYI the patch didn't really do much for me. The person I called said it was
a slightly better (his voice wasn't as loud as the last time i called him
(before applying it) but it was still very loud). I did restart it before
trying.

Has anyone tried the invisibleSHIELD on the freerunner?

2008-07-17 Thread Søren Kristiansen
Hello

As the subject says, has anyone tried the invisibleSHIELD on the freerunner?
I'm still waiting for my freerunner but I'd like some sort of protection for
it once it arrives.

How invisible is it? I've watched a lot of videos on youtube and on zagg's
homepage and it looks like the shield adds a lot of reflection to the
device.

Is it easy to install on the freerunner? Do you have to open the freerunner
to add, eg. the screen protection? How does the body cover fit on the round
edges on the freerunner?

If anyone didn't know, it's available on zagg's homepage here:
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/openmoko-neo-freerunner-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

Thanks :-)

Re: Reason for GPS problems found!

2008-07-15 Thread Søren Kristiansen
It's indeed sad that it's the SD reader that's causing the problems, but at
least the problem has been found now. It will be much easier to find a
decent solution that allows the SD card to remain in the card reader. I just
hope it can be fixed at home with some soldering or a homemade EMC-shield.

2008/7/15 Jay Vaughan [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

The problem only occurs if a SD card is set in. Doesn't matter if
it's mounted or in use, it just has to sit in the socket.

oh man, if this is true, its not good news.

Perfect ! I was just going to order an invisibleShield, choosing one

  But :
  - is full body coverage made up from different parts (screen / body)
? I don't think it is possible to cover both with the same sheet (not
  flat)

 I figure it's divided, however I juts wanted a screen prtector :P

  - is screen sheet a bit larger (or smaller), or exactly at the size of
the visible part of the screen ?

I don't really know, but since they should have the CAD files I hope
 they'll made the right size.

I thought I'd better put a sheet a bit larger on the naked LCD, by
first putting off the case of the Freerunner... with the added
advantage to have the sheet acting as a joint for dust/water drops...

Yes, that's right... I'd prefer also a protector a little bigger, to be
 put under the top cover.
