Neo Freerunner Group Purchases - USA

2008-06-23 Thread Seattle Web Creations, LLC
I haven¹t seen any information regarding the details of how the groups are
to make the purchases of the Neo Freerunner. I¹ve been told by someone in
the #openmoko IRC channel that there is currently or that there will be an
actual distributor in the USA for the 10 pack purchases. Is this true?

Also, I¹ve yet to see any information pertaining to the preferred method of
purchasing by groups. I assume that they/we must make our own arrangements,
entrusting 1 individual to make the purchase?

One last question is is the ordering (in the USA) going to be available
once the Freerunners are already stateside or is it going to be required
that the orders are placed before they actually ship?

Myself and others would greatly appreciate any information!

No, actually that statement isn't completely true Harry. The Hi Trust
Payment gateway system does not communicate with every banking network, such
as Bank of America Visa Debit cards. I found this out today after attempting
many times to make a purchase ; (

Isn't it suppose to be ifconfig eth0 up for that card since it is a hardmac
chip?

Also I'm not sure because I get my FR on ~ Monday, but maybe you have to
modprobe the driver?

USB Host Mode for Wifi Card - help!

2008-07-19 Thread Seattle Web Creations, LLC
I¹m having a problem getting my Linksys WUSB54GC USB wifi card recognized
on the FR. I purchased a mini-USB to USB adapter as found here:
http://www.electronicproductonline.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=
1781

Also, I¹ve picked up a battery powered USB hub like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Cyberpower-CP-H420MP-USB-Hub-Battery-Powered/dp/B0002U
QALQ

My Debian Sid installation boots from microSD with a kernel built with the
rt2x00 and rt73usb drivers (the same ones that are included with the
git.openmoko.org kernel); I have copied the rt73 firmware to /lib/firmware/
as well.

When I boot the Neo, I execute the command: echo 1 >
/sys/devices/platform/neo-1973-pm-host.0/hostmode

Once I run the above command viola my powered USB comes to life (although
there is also a light that comes on to inform me that the Freerunner is
charging it... Which seems to somewhat defeat the purpose of a powered USB
hub a little :>/

I can plug in my SD card reader and it gets powered my WUSB54GC doesn¹t
seem to get enough power, nor is recognized by the FR after I modprobe
rt73usb and try ifconfig rausb0 up (I¹ve tried rasub1, wlan0, wlan1,
wmaster0 also).

Does anyone have any idea of what the problem can be? I would greatly
appreciate you help to find out if USB host mode will support wireless
cards!

Re: USB Host Mode for Wifi Card - help!

2008-07-19 Thread Seattle Web Creations, LLC
Thanks for the info... I got it sorted out - I had to bring down the usb0
iface first (lack of sleep to blame for overlooking such a menial thing).

The card is recognized but the driver is super buggy. I've just finished
compiling a new kernel doing away with the mac80211 version for the
ieee80211 one. This 'should' resolve the issue with the card for me.

Thanks again,

Gino

USB Host Dead??

2008-08-23 Thread Seattle Web Creations, LLC
I have a huge problem my FR doesn¹t send power anymore in USB hostmode.
The LED¹s will flicker for a split second when I connect / disconnect it,
but that¹s it. I have had the same results with the 2007.2 image, as well as
two different Debian SD card OS¹s.

What can I do if anything to fix this?

Yep, I tried everything, including changing the OTG adapter same results.
It seem like this controller is fried or something - I don¹t know for sure,
but would be very interested to hear if others have had this issue, as well
as input from someone at Openmoko.
