IMHO, this is probably the best news since a (too) long time ! It's a really GREAT idea ! Let me explain my dream : A MiniMoko with at least : - GSM/3G - mini-USB port (with host mode ?) - GPS less important : - better camera (for shots) - bluetooth (for headphones + mic) - higher screen resolution And finally will need a simple dock for home with : - HDMI port (-> desktop screen) - USB ports (-> mouse + keyboard + peripherals) - hard disk (-> sata ? USB3 ?) That would be the perfect device ! I'm not enought skilled in hardware nor software development, but I will buy one ! I'm ready to pre-order now for those features at reasonnable cost ;-) -- /swap38 http://openmoko-fr.org ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

I'm just the little guy who started to speak in french about Openmoko one year ago [1] (with Bearstech's help), one of these end-users you're talking about. But I really want to support the Openmoko initiative because I hardly believe in open this hardware revolution. As I told previously [2], I think an open "umbrella" foundation can be a good option. Why not Linux International ? Before legal works, the community needs organization to be as efficient as possible with its ressources. (I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who really want to help but know what should they do first) Now I hope that key people of the worldwide community will join this opinion ... and let's go ! But I want to help as much as I can. There's 2 solutions for a foundation : 1 - create a brand new Openmoko foundation 2 - join an a foundation that already exists an create a sub-group The solution 2 is easier to start (and can be moved in solution 1 later). We can ask to : - Linux International (see this mail from maddog : http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2009-June/049177.html) - Mozilla (they planned to build a mozilla phone : http://mozphone.com/about/) - LiMo ? Hi, At the end of this article [1], there's a comment about Dasher [2]. It's a strange but simple funny input method that can be very fast ("39 words per minute"). [Om 2008.12] No ssh / no wifi ?
Hi all, I've just flashed my neo with Om2008.12 with (jffs2, uImage and u-Boot md5sums are OK, neotool didn't report any error => everything is OK) First surprise : there's no wifi option Second surprise : I can't ping 192.168.0.202 (so I can't connect to it with ssh) I think the problem is not related to my PC because when I reboot to QtExtended (on the SD card), everything works well (ping, ssh and so on ...). And I'm not alone in that case [1]. Anybody else with that kind of issue ? Any solution ?
