Apart for a fact that it has problem loading kernels over a certain size? Or
that it requires the kernel on a separate partition (which must be fat?)?
No, I don't think so.

But this begs the question: could U-boot be improved to deal with the
current requirements of the users?

Ok, good to know.

Well, I copied QtMoko v11 (qtmoko-debian-v11.tar.gz) to my SD card (p2
partition. Uname says
neo:~# uname -a
Linux neo 2.6.29-rc3 #1 PREEMPT Tue Sep 1 23:03:59 CEST 2009 armv4tl
GNU/Linux

and this is a newer kernel than the one with QtMoko v9 at least.
/proccmdline says:
neo:~# cat /proc/cmdline
loglevel=4 console=tty0 console=ttySAC2,115200 init=/sbin/init ro
mtdparts=physmap-flash:-(nor);neo1973-nand:0x0004(qi),0x0004(depr-ub-env),0x0080(kernel),0x000a(depr),0x0004(identity-ext2),0x0f6a(rootfs)
g_ether.host_addr=00:1F:11:01:0D:38 g_ether.dev_addr=00:1F:11:01:0D:38
root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootdelay=1 loglevel=1 quiet splash

I don't know of any other means to identify the QtMoko version I am using.
lsb_release isn't there:
neo:~# lsb_release -a
-bash: lsb_release: command not found

mount NAND partitions from Linux?

2009-09-24 Thread tingox
Hello,

Can I find out what partitions I have on NAND in my FreeRunner, and mount
them from Linux?
(I am currently running QtMoko v11, booted from p2 on a SD card)
