This happened with moko10 and trying to upgrade to moko11 - yes doesnt
 make sense,

I flashed between moko11 and moko10 numerous times. If you really used
the recommended way (ROM bootloader, no flow control), then i see no
reasonable way (except magic) how a particular firmware version can
cause problems for reflashing.

Moreover, if you were able to downgrade, you could have upgraded just
as well.

So, to me both the wiki report as well as your words look like the
result of some misunderstanding, not as a description of an existing
issue.

Nevermind this comment.
Flashing GSM-FW back and forth never failed on a single case we seen so far,

[QTE 4.4.3] Determining which version of GSM firmware I have.

2009-03-10 Thread Friedrich Clausen
Hi All,

I am currently running QT Extended 4.4.3 and I was wondering how I can
determine which GSM firmware I have? I read that moko11 is the
appropriate version to use. I don't actually have any echo problems
but I thought it prudent to run the latest GSM firmware but first I
want to see what I have.

Regards,

Fred.

Please have a look at:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GSM/Flashing

The page describes how to check if the update went fine. That prints the
current firmware version string.

Cheers,

Looks like there was some confusion and this information is
incorrect. The installed firmware version can't make upgrading harder,
especially given you use the ROM bootloader.

2009-03-10 Thread W.Kenworthy
It did for me - absolutely refused to upgrade in every way I tried until
I downgraded (as per the wiki page) and then the upgrade worked fine.
This happened with moko10 and trying to upgrade to moko11 - yes doesnt
make sense, but the fact I ran into it, and the wiki page had a fix that
specifically mentioned it means its a real problem.
