For some reason the icon labels are no longer elipsing (getting ... to shorten the name). As such, if there's onw with a very long name (eg, Vagalume) they don't fit the area anymore and the smart placement has no other option than to use a single line (what's very funny is that it gets fast as hell). In the meanwhile, you can find the .desktop file of the offending application and shorten the name by hand.
