A Hindi font is included in the ttf-indic fonts package on Debian, and a list of open-source Hindi fonts is at http://www.indlinux.org/wiki/index.php/IndicFontsList#Devanagari I am also pretty sure that if Pango is working, Indian-language text should render properly on the Freerunner.
