The question is: Who is correct? Has there been an agreement? Or is this

Hello Edwin, all,

I have the same questions, and would appreciate an official Openmoko answer.

However I have a small correction. Your link [2] (Christoph Pulster,
Wir vertreiben bereits den Neo1973 commenting on the golem.de article
OpenMoko FreeRunner kommt Ende April) does not say that Openmoko Inc.
and TRIsoft do not have an agreement. It just says something like the
following (and I'm not German, so this is just to get the basic idea
across):

/---\
We sell the Neo1973 already

Good morning Golem. For once don't just pass on press releases
unchanged, but also do some research, when you call yourself IT News
for professionals.

The availability date of the new Freerunner is completely up for grabs
[in the stars-- I love German, MK]. Fact is, there are not even
prototypes yet. Until something is available that is really usable for
the end-user, I will have the summer already again behind me.

We have the Neo1973 already in stock and available. I do not take
preorders for non-existing devices seriously. When the PDA/smartphone
business wouldn't announce so many 'air bubbles', then the anticipation
of the patient user would at least often be justified. Shame.

Christoph

\---/

For reference, here is my rough translation of the first paragraph of
the golem.de article itself (http://www.golem.de/0803/58520.html):

/---\
OpenMoko Freerunner arrives end of April

At TriSoft one can preorder the Linux smartphone FreeRunner from
OpenMoko right now for the price of 399,- Euro. The delivery to
developers should follow end of April 2008. The Freerunner is the
follow-up of the Neo1973 and has internally been reworked just a little.
The devices run on free software, OpenMoko makes the software also
available in source code form with documentation, and allows it to be
modified.
\---/

Hope this helps.

Groetjes,

Marnix

Hello,

I have phoned with them some minutes ago - a german free-call number - and
they told me exactly that thing. So I can hope that I will hold a freed
cellphone at last in my hands - surely for beta-fixing and testing.

For my person to say, I use cellphones not so intensive for phoning. I prefer
landline instead. So it is okay for me, that it has some alpha/beta-bugs. :)

All good work out there! :)

Regards,
Roland

2008-03-22 Thread Harry Tsai

Dear Edwin and Community,

First, about Pulster and TRIsoft problem ...

I made decision to work with both parties, I allowed TRIsoft to start
pre-order business when I met them in Cebit.
Besides, Christopher, he is my first partner and we had real business
relationship for GTA01, actually he had stock for GTA01 and help me to
promote it since end of 2007, I do believe we have press to mention
about this stuff last year in CES.

So, they all are my partner and also are my friend, I told Chris, keep
going the business and have fun with Openmoko, any argument is boring
for me.

We will release our update partner list and our price policy soon,
Openmoko will have more and more business partners in near future.
Make business simple and easy is my philosophy, I hope my answer is
helpful for you. :-)

Hi Roland,

given the intentional lack of a date from Openmoko officials I am a bit
confused by the certainty of the date TRIsoft is advertising.

Apparently this does not work reliably. I just tried that (at ~17:00CEST) with
the number 0800 8757638 in Germany and have been told that there is no
connection for this number (Keine Verbindung unter dieser Telefonnummer).

Cheers
Jan

Of course there is no connection for this number - the number is 0800 87*4*

@Harry:
Good to hear that there are two official resalers; hopefully the flaming in
the forums will stop.

Hmmm, I tried the venity number 0800-TRISOFT and they where there...

From my previous mail it was, as I said, some minutes ago. Maybe they have
just setup the number?

Oh, I didn't realize it so quickly. My phone has letters under the numbers
printed.

Anyway. Let's see what the future delivers to us... :D
