Lorn, thx for the new Qtopia 4.3.3 image that is much more stable except
when I am trying to make a call (qpe just restarts).

Can you please make a new image with a fix for that to?:)

I have also experienced the same. The incoming sound volume is barely
audible, it sound like an ant in the distance. However the outgoing volume
is excellent. Can someone please post the correct set of alsa state files
and instructions on where to put them.

Re: QTopia 4.3.3 doesn't suspend at first

2008-09-09 Thread Thomas Bertani
2008/9/9 Jean-Eric Cuendet [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Hi,
I installed the last image from Lorn of QTopia 4.3.3
I have a problem: when I start it, it seems like if QTopia thinks the FR is
powered by USB, so it doesn't go to sleep after 30 seconds.
If I plug it to USB, it then detects the cable (the screen brightness is
 higher).
If I unplug it, it detects now that it's unplugged (the screen brightness
is lower). And after that, it suspends after 30 seconds.

So I think that at first boot, QTopia thinks it's connected to USB while it
is not. And all becomes well after plug/unplug from USB.
Where is the status of the plug/unplug stored?
Have someone an idea where to look to debug?
This is easily reproducible on my FR.
 Lorn?

 Thanks.

An updated 4.3.3 would be nice as well, the current snapshot is a bit buggy.
Incoming volume, lot worse batterylife and also had a disappearing pin
screen.
4.3.2 wasn't bad, the only major issue it had was missing some sms messages.

You can pair with a bluetooth headset, but no one has managed to get the audio
to work, on any of
the distributions.

The solution (if there is one) will be the same I suspect for all the dists,
including Qtopia.

Check out the bluetooth related wiki entries for what has been done so far.

[Qtopia 4.3.3] Changing profiles makes FR crash

2008-09-04 Thread yann . sladek
Hi,

I'm running the latest Qtopia update (9/2/08) and I've got a problem changing
profiles
When I'm using general profile and want to switch to silent profile, the FR UI
crashes and I have to reboot it (it's a GTA02v5).
Is someone having the same problem ?
How I can I get logs about that ?

Yann

Qtopia 4.3.3

2008-09-04 Thread Paul Buede
So I flashed this one today, I used
qtopia-4.3.3-snapshot-09012242-gta02-flash.tgz.

I followed an earlier post to turn my speaker volume back up to 127 so I
can hear. Are the various values in the file
/usr/share/openmoko/scenarios/gsmhandset.state, documented anywhere?
Turning the value up helps me hear but its got a buzz I wonder if I can
tweak out.

Interestingly, I used to notice I got fewer bars with 4.3.2, and the
reception didn't seem quite as good as with ASU. Now, reception still
seems slightly worse, but oddly, it has full bars, that never decrease,
at least while walking around the house, where there is usually a fair
amount of variation in how many bars show. So that seems to be broken
or looking at the wrong thing, can anyone confirm?

The SMS fix seems to work sort of, used to be when I got a voice mail I
would get a text from ATT with some weird characters, now I get a text
that looks like this:

--
Stop

From: 2804
Date: Thursday, September 4, 2008 22:00:16
--

I am not sure this helps me more than a text with strange characters,
but it is at least still unique enough looking that I will know what it
means.

I haven't done any testing involving the power management or anything,
if I notice anything wierd there I will report back. Anyone tried
bluetooth headset with this new version to see if the files that were
not there in 4.3.2 are there now? I can try tomorrow if nobody else has
yet.

Thanks

Qtopia 4.3.3 errors?

2008-08-31 Thread Hypnotize
Hi, I have found some errors in Qtopia version 4.3.3:

1. The Software Packages application does not work: Application terminated:
Software Packages was terminated due to application error.

2. The wifi configurator does not work, it saves the config but cant connect
to the wifi network (WEP protected).

3. The Internet application does hang the phone when I try to delete a
configuration.

4. The phone says that the sim card is not ready or not inserted when i try
to delete a sms or change the speaker volume (It works if I wait 1-2 hours
and try again).

5. I get asked for entering the pin code twice almost all the time.

6. It reconnects to the GSM network almost every minute, but not when i'm
speaking with someone.

Does it exist some fixes for this problems?

Qtopia 4.3.3 Alarm Clock not starting after wake up

2008-08-31 Thread Timo Scheffler
Hello!

I'm using Qtopia 4.3.3 (installed via the rootfs image from qtopia.net).

If I set the Alarm Clock and the phone doesn't suspend until the time for
the alarm has come, it works as expected.
But if the openmoko goes to sleep and the time arrives, it wakes up but
there is no alarm clock (not ringing, no application or notice on the
screen, just the homescreen or whatever was shown as it went to sleep).

I think by the time the openmoko is resumed, the point in time when the
alarm would start is already in the past.
If I could change the alarm clock to set the wakeup time for the phone to
5 seconds before the alarm clock is triggered, it would be awake and the
alarm would work.

Maybe you know a fix for this or know another reason why the clock isn't
working (in case I got the wrong idea of how the system works) and would
bother to tell me. :)

Thanks in advance,
Timo Scheffler
