I previously had installed cu and could access /dev/ttySAC0 . but cu

Now I have to reboot in 2007.2, use libgsmd-tool to register my

why do you need to do this?
What AT commands are you needing to provide?

In this case, it is
AT+COPS=1,2,20810

where 20810 is my provider
mm I may also ask for manual mode (not roaming automatically)..
don't remember the command right now.

I have a bug filled for this case where qtopia seems to issue these
commands without the quotes, and it fails...

Re: Qtopia issues with 4.3.2-080808

2008-08-14 Thread Cédric Berger
2 differences I noted with 080808 release :

- WIFI :
It was annoted improved wifi handling... well I never managed to
connect to WPA encrypted wifi, so not much experience... but it became
even more difficult to configure for me :

I have difficulties to access properties... menu to configure.
It seems to be keeping trying to access unavailable or encrypted
network (failing), and does not offer to access properties (only WLAN
detection...).
Just selecting the network service (Wireless LAN) triggers an
attempt to connect ? So how to get to configuration without it trying
to connect (and blocking) ?

I may fail to understand the real logic of these screen, but anyway it
is not really intuitive.

- lock/supsend :
Back from suspend (via power button), if screen was locked, it is
automatically unlocked (was not the case before). Is it a feature or a
bug ?
And often, power button press to get back from suspend is also at the
same time interpreted to get to shutdown menu. (but it also happened
with previous version... and even if screen kept locked)

I said the same but actually the speakerphone is fine and we need to disable
the sidetone in the modem. Check my commits to vendor_ficgta01.cpp to see the
command.

There isn't one for the Freerunner. But the alsa state files for the
 Freerunner are /usr/share/openmoko/scenarios

Do you mean that on the Freerunner image Qtopia is currently incapable of
selecting an alsa state file for using a Bluetooth heaset for GSM even if Jim
manages to create such a state file and puts it
in /usr/share/openmoko/scenarios?

odd. This most likely would have nothing to do with qtopia.

I cannot find libgsmd-tool on qtopia, is it there somewhere, or by a
different name? Then I could give you some real numbers... Oddly, when
the phone boots it has a lot more bars and then it quickly drops, and
then its super spotty. I also wonder if there is a way to restart the
gsm daemon or service without rebooting? I don't see anything in
/etc/init.d that jumps out at me as the right script.

Thanks!

 4. How do I change the number it uses to call voicemail? It doesn't
seem set and I don't see where to set that value. With ATT phones, you
are supposed to be able to hold down the 1, and it will call voicemail.
I assume that is not the case with this phone and I will have to program
it to call my own number and then throw in a bunch of commas for waits,
and then hit * to access voicemail. This is fine, I just want to be
 able to set it.

Ok. this is a bug in qtopia.

You can set it up to speed dial it. Just open the contact entry for your
voicemail select Options-add to speed dial. Then you can click on the
Star icon on the homescreen to call!

 5. Is there any documentation on the Qtopia build? For example, I am
going to export my contacts from palm desktop to a csv I suppose, and
then I will want to import it. Not sure where or how best to do that
sort of operation. Whats the right way to do updates on Qtopia?

You mean help documents? There are help files for applications on the
phone. Just go to the menu 'Help'. Probably the only way to import
contacts is through bluetooth.

As far as sync contacts and such, Qtopia only syncs to Outlook. Of
course, anyone can write qdsync import/export plugins, but only Outlook
is currently supported.

Right now, the only way is to update Qtopia is grab the 'qtopia
update' package at qtopia.net. There is a script in there that will stop
Qtopia, remove it, upload the new Qtopia and start it again.

In the future, there will be a package feed, but making ipkg packages is
broken in 4.3 and will not get fixed.

Finally, my critical stuff is reception and calls, and phone functioning
on wakeup from suspend and such. I will be happy to test other builds
and OS's if they get that level of stability.
