My debug board cable is broken. Did you sell this one apart ?

Exactly. It is not the CPU frequency but the RF receiver/transmitter.

There are two models of the GTA02 (see 
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner 
  at "Versions")

* North America: 850/1800/1900 MHz
* Rest of World: 900/1800/1900 MHz

I believe that 900 Mhz is that the freerunner is using the 900 Mhz GSM
