Currently Android on Freerunner is hard coded to use AT%SLEEP=2 to avoid deep
sleep mode entirely; your email has prompted discussion of making it an
editable property in Androids init.rc startup file.

I don't believe there is an adaptive mode like FSO and QtMoko have at present.

yes it did, on the 3rd change of input method, and then as i started
to type the red circle with X changed to blue arrow, then it popped
up a bar saying send and returned to the red circle then hit the send
and it made a place for the number, I hit the word switch which
appeared on the lower right of the keyboard and it made a number pad,
with useful extras. so could put in the number then it changed to an
envelope on the bottom right and that sent it. Earlier a press on the
same send bar also sent one, so those both seem to work at that
point..
I really like the keyboard ( except perhaps would change the layout of
the letters), but the switch feature and Shift are very convenient.
Why I said about the layout; I have been using an alphabet layout in
Neovento and am getting used to that.

thank you, there are a lot of nice features. By the way i found that a
press on the power button will enable escape from help. Till then i
was in despair.

would you mind creating some package or archive which simply unpacks all
necessary files of navit (w/o maps ofc) into the root dir or qtmoko? or
maybe add instructions to the qtmoko wiki on how to get the latest version
of navit (svn would be best) working on qtmoko? first one might be easier,
as you already did all the appropriate steps :)

thanks in advance!

Re: QtMoko v14 unable to send sms???

2009-10-09 Thread Pablo Miño
No matter if I reply a sms or start a new one, it happens the same.
When I start a new message (or reply a sms) I see a red circle with a
white cross and when I start typing it changes to an orange pentagon
with a white cross inside that is pointing backwards and it actually
deletes a character each time it is pressed.

If I disable "Use icon for soft keys" in Settings -> Appearance the
orange pentagon becomes a "Delete" key.

This is quite odd. I downloaded the images yesterday (or the day
before yesterday) and are v14.
Is it possible to change the behavior via configuration files?

Interesting, in my test I used the "reply to message" function, not the
create message.
But anyhow.
I use the DockedKeyboard. As soon as I start to type characters on the
screen, the blue arrow (it is light blue, actually) replaces the "white
cross in a red circle" which is on the right side above the keyboard. After
I finished typing, I press the blue arrow, and the the sed screen shows,
whee I can select someone to send to (or type in in number), and then I
canpress the send button.
Don't yours work like that?

2009-10-09 Thread Pablo Miño
This is really odd. I asume that my QtMoko v14 is no different than
yours, so I should see what you told me but I do not.

I am in the create message screen, close to the battery status there
is a little keyboard where I can hide the keyboard or switch to
another keyboard, I have four keyboards (only three are shown) an none
show a blue arrow, at the most the DockedKeyboard shows a little green
key that extends the keyboard with stuff.

I do not think I am missing it and I am feeling really silly.

Where should this blue arrow be? How do I "finish" the keyboard, just hiding?

Perhaps you need to "finish" keyboard input before you can see the send
button?
On the keyboard I use there is a blue arrow pointing right that takes me to
the send button after writing a reply to a text message.

Thanks! sourcing qpe.env fixed it!

FWIW, I did this (but via a ssh'ed shell):

r...@neo:~# source /opt/*qtmoko*/qpe.env

r...@neo:/root# DISPLAY=:0 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/*qtmoko*/lib /opt/*qtmoko*
/bin/*addressbook* /home/root/Documents/phone.vcf

If you do the work from the terminal on the Neo, you shouldn't need to
source qpe.env, I think.

If it has workaround then it's usually on the bottom of my todo list :)
Thanks for the report, it will take some time, but i hope i will get to
it :)

That would be nice but also a lot of work. Using FSO would make it
easier to port to new devices and the FSO codebase seems to be quite
stable and maintained.

Same here...

I will try :)

Great, thanks. This is very welcome. In fact i dont know how much
bandwidth is allowed on my (activationrecord.net) server so every mirror
is welcome.

pkg-fso-keyring should have already in my image, but until now i was
lazy to figure out how to install it :)

Re: QtMoko v14

2009-10-07 Thread ghislain

Hi!

I really like QtMoko and V14 is an improvement!

Every time a new version arrives I provide the Freerunner Community in the
Netherlands with an alternative download on http://www.openmobile.nl/
openmobile.nl (this site is in Dutch).
I also changes some basic things to the standard QtMoko version:
* I create an sdCard installer (Android alike, by flashing qi, rootfs,
kernel)
* I add some packages (pkg-fso-keyring vim ntpdate nfs-common mtd-utils
flite)
* I add a working version of Navit (under QX), with speech (flite) with an
working map (Benelux) on the sdCard under the MapsNavit folder
* I change the defaults of the fstab (swap on 2nd partition of sdCard),
nfs-mount to host (192.168.1.200) /media/jffs2

Maybe this is handy for the rest of the community too? Take a look at the
latest (V14) installer-image:
http://www.openmobile.nl/pages/downloads.php#qtm14 QtMoko V14 Installer
Image and let me know if this is something you all like or if there need to
be some changes.
