I'm not certain if this is true of the preloaded version, but the GTK-based
one I made with mokomakefile on the 23rd has resolv.conf pointing to
192.168.0.200 which is the suggested IP for the PC end of the USB connection.
You either need this machine to handle DNS requests, or change the
resolv.conf to point to one that can.

Hi,

I had the same problem, It seems that neo can resolve domain names
then change in the configurations files
http://78.47.190.211/daily-feed/all/Packages.gz.

You can know if you have the same problem when you try to do ping at
buildhost.openmoko.org and don't response, and when you do ping
78.47.190.211 it works.

I hope that you can resolve the problem

Re: opkg not going anywhere

2008-07-01 Thread Clare
Hi Eildert
Doing what you did, I get a similar result except I can ping out.
One thing necessary is a nameserver, but also iptables probably.
file /etc/resolv.conf in the Neo or Freerunner whould read
nameserver 192.168.0.200
and in the PC I run dnsmasq as the nameserver.
My 2nd machine this was not running, but starting it enabled
ping out etc to work.
My ifconfig gives an lo in addition to usb0

I did write it all earlier, especially the iptables part at
http://home.exetel.com.au/claregj/Neo1973/WhatIdidToSshNeo
(because it was harder with modem wanting 192.168.2 network.)

Good luck, you will enjoy it.

if usb is the means the om is connected to the inet, the host pc needs to
be configured to route all request from the om to the inet and back.

opkg not going anywhere

2008-07-01 Thread Eildert Groeneveld
Hi Folks
now I am trying to install some stuff on the brandnew Freerunner.

Through usb0 and ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am logged into the Neo and want to
install tangoGPS. However, it seems that the Neo cannot access the internet
altough the laptop does have full access.
A opkg update gives:

An error ocurred, return value: 8.
Collected errors:

also urls cannot be pinged
