Re: [cg] Question regarding Insurance for garden on State of NY property
Maureen, While folks often respond privately to e-mails emanating from the listserv, - because this is such a sheer, what, no insurance? the sky is falling, type crisis, I've gone public, in my usual tactless fashion, to get as much information to as many people in need of it as possible. There are 10,000 community gardens and a few hundred community garden organizations - in the spirit of the hundred monkeys in a room typing out the complete works of Shakespeare, eventually, in 25 years, I figure that one of us got it right. By sending this all points bulleting out in cyberspace, I hope that the person who did get it right e-mails us all back with the right answer. I am going to start working on this issue immediately. I cannot afford to be without insurance, the DOT strictly enforces the insurance policy. I am willing to work with any committee, but I've already started the process.I will update the listserve as I have information to post. thanks for your response, regards, Maureen - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 4:43 PM Subject: Fwd: [cg] Question regarding Insurance for garden on State of NY property Another note on the garden insurance crisis. RE: [cg] Question regarding Insurance for garden on State of NY property
Responding to an earlier question about companies that underwrite community gardens, we get ours from Carolina Casualty via a group buying process sponsored by our state association of non-profits. They treat us as a social service program, not a dangerous use of vacant properties. That helps.
