Re: [Compiz] [Bug 150690] Re: Can't drag a window to another workspace
Ryan, If you're willing to dig/investigate, code, debug, and submit, I'm certainly willing to help. I've been programming/administering UNIX for ~30 years, Linux for ~15. My strengths are... well, pretty wide-reaching, but not so much in the GUI/Gnome/Window-manager/Virtual-Desktop coding details, or I would have fixed this myself a long time ago. Let me know if/when you get stuck and I'll do my best to get you un-stuck. Contact me off-list at p...@reiber.org any time. [Compiz] [Bug 150690] Re: Can't drag a window to another workspace
Paul - I'm actually referring to the patch attached to this bug (posted in comment #34: betterpatch.diff). It appears to target pager.c, but I can't find that file in 10.04. I haven't researched the Fedora patch yet, but I will look into that. I'm new to Gnome, and linux in general (been an OpenSuse/Kubuntu/LinuxMint user for the past year), but I actually noticed this bug within the first 30 minutes after installation. I'd like to help if at all possible (I was a heavy .net programmer, but I've been living in Qt Creator for the last 6 months), but I figured I should start with whatever work has already been accomplished - this patch, and the alleged Fedora patch - and build from there. Thanks for the help. -- Can't drag a window to another workspace https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 391479] Re: Child Windows [of Synaptic/update manager] should remain in the same desktop as the parent window
As pointed out in a bug 35876 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/metacity/+bug/35876), this bug appears to be two-fold. 1. Synaptic/Update Manager shouldn't be trying to steal focus and 2. compiz should not be allowing it to do so. However, I think #1 seems like a more appropriate fix. Loye Young proposed a fix in that bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/metacity/+bug/35876/comments/46 https://bugs.launchpad.net/metacity/+bug/35876/comments/55 Has anyone attempted a patch based on the suggestions provided? -- Child Windows [of Synaptic/update manager] should remain in the same desktop as the parent window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/391479 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 576696] Re: After update to Ubuntu 10.04, display was >weird
Yoshi's workaround really helped, by the way, and now Richard's solution really solved the problem. I deleted the saved sessions (didn't even know I had some) and compiz started normally (without Yoshi's workaround). Issue can be closed, I think, but don't know which status would be appropriate here. -- After update to Ubuntu 10.04, display was >weird< https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 156055] Re: Windows shows on several workspaces
Hi everyone, thanks for all the effort people have made to fix this. I just wanted to report that I get something very similar to this in Hardy, but only when I first log in. That is, the windows that are automatically opened to restore the previous session sometimes slightly overlap two workspaces -- -they are mostly in 1, but a sliver appears in a second. Newly mapped windows (ones that I open myself) always behave correctly. Not a huge problem, but its like a dripping tap, I notice it everytime. If someone can give me a hint how to fix this, I would be grateful. thanks -- Windows shows on several workspaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156055 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 583401] Re: Windows don't repaint after alt+tab (compiz, nvidia)
** Description changed: Binary package hint: compiz I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04, and since then I seem to be getting a strange artefact. When I switch windows with Alt+Tab, regardless of the used switcher (I used both the Ring Switcher and the Static Application Switcher so far), sometimes, without a specific pattern, the window I switch to stops repainting itself. That is, I can click in it, type in it, etc., and it updates itself internally, but it doesn't repaint to show the changes. It feels as if it's frozen. After I Alt+Tab again, and switch to it, I can see the changes I made while it was frozen, and then everything works for a while, until next time it decides to do it. It doesn't have any preferences on which window to freeze. It can be any window, at any time. + Switching between desktops has the same effect (with the same uncertain + reproducibility). So far, it never happened while switching windows + using the mouse and the taskbar. + Now, I don't know if it's compiz or nvidia at fault here. I tend to think it's nvidia, because I don't get this behaviour on an Intel video card running the same software with the same settings. And if I get a new nvidia driver and it stops doing this, I may even close this bug.
