[Compiz] [Bug 709461] Re: semi-random invisible window with x geometry on top layer possible, all viewport only (one ws though)

2011-02-08 Thread Doug McMahon
Overall very good improvement , a couple ways still remain where an
'untracked' window is created, a slightly atypical use of synaptic is
good example, opera may also have/create some issues

This applies to both unity and gnome-panel logins

Yeah, the initial stacking fix only cures part of the problem. We're
still looking into this.

[Compiz] [Bug 145431] Re: Disable "detect refresh rate" for nVidia drivers

2011-02-08 Thread oranges
Hey guys, has this been looked at for 10.04?

I think this is a very critical problem, too. I have had like 25 ppl try
Ubuntu out and most of them go nutts, when the prop. drivers are
suggested, installed and the tearing begins. There has to be SOMETHING
you can do about this.

ATI released a new driver, with experimental support for Vsync on the
desktop. My little Intel GMA 950 puppy does Vsync @default with Compiz
just fine on every single thing I throw at it (videos, desktop, games
and so on), but for a few YEARS now this has been a prob. with Nvidia
cards.

Honestly, I really don't care WHY or WHO; PLEASE just fix it, it's
annoying as hell and drivers a lot of ppl nutts, giving Ubuntu a bad
rep. for feeling all teary, buggy and trying to fix it. Needles to say,
that most of them give up after weeks of trying. It's bad enough, that
Plymouth looks ugly with Nvidia prop. drivers and causes all kinds of
flickering and other probs, at least get the desktop right.

I don't mean to be rude, but maybe just calling Nvidia or talking to
AaronP would help at least a BIT here.

Thanks.

[Compiz] [Bug 715412] [NEW] 11.04 Natty 7-feb-2011 beta Compiz crash

2011-02-08 Thread peterzay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Using a live CD, I repeatedly left clicked, right clicked, then double
clicked on the launcher in empty space just above the trash.

I got a Compiz error (sorry, I did not write it down on paper). The
system offered to capture all the details and opened Firefox on the
launchpad web site.

The external USB keyboard did NOT register on that page. The internal
Lenovo SL500 keyboard also did NOT register any key strokes. I could
not register the bug.

This report is being sent on the same machine running 10.04 from the
hard drive.

[Compiz] [Bug 685325] Re: Gnome menus & window titles missing

2011-02-08 Thread Barry Drake
Don't know where to run with this. Tried all the different computers I
have in my house. A Dell Inspiron Laptop gave exactly the same result
as the above. An older PC I have ( I can get the hardware spec if it
will help) boots up just fine, and presents me with the Gnome desktop.
If I try to run Unity (neither Unity nor Compiz are running) ... if I
try to run Unity from the terminal, it gives a fatal error when trying
to start Compiz.

It gets worse. I have access to my wife's PC. Fairly modern - around
two years old. Again I can get the hardware details if required. It is
currently running 10.04 perfectly well. It will not boot into the
liveCD - it fails during boot with the error (intramfs) stin: I/O error
mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: no such
device

I tried 11.10 and this gives the same error while booting the liveCD.

I'm a bit worried - four computers in one household, and none of them
can boot Natty properly!

[Compiz] [Bug 342980] Re: GUI elements stop updating

2011-02-08 Thread mthome
My machine still exhibits this issue with all panel widgets (including
clock, weather, cpu monitors, etc) ceasing to update. Usually, but not
always, stops sometime while the screensaver (simple blanking) is
active.

Ubuntu 10.10, x86_64 w/ 2.6.37-020637-generic
"Force synchronization between X and GLX" is on but doesn't seem to have any
effect.

The only thing I see in the logs that is obviously suspicious is that
there is some NTP state changing a bit before the time the panel clock
freezes at. Kicking NTP actually seems to restart the panel.

2011-02-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package compiz -
1:0.9.2.1+glibmainloop4-0ubuntu10

---
compiz (1:0.9.2.1+glibmainloop4-0ubuntu10) natty; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/080_migrate_gconf_from_alpha1.patch
debian/reset-compiz-gconf, debian/compiz-gnome.install:
- remove the additional python wrapper now that people who installed
alpha1 are considerated to be transitionned to the new schema.
  * debian/patches/17_fix_stacking_issue.patch:
- backport from upstream. This seems to fix the random invisible window
