[Compiz] [Bug 740126] Re: compiz hangs randomly several times per day

2011-03-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
That looks to me awfully like an entirely idle gpu.

My hypothesis is that the driver has missed the vblank interrupt, so the
MSC compiz is waiting on will never be raised.

Could you please add ‘drm.debug=0x1’ to your kernel command line and
attach dmesg next time this happens? That should spit out appropriate
messages to debug this.

[Compiz] [Bug 344053] Re: I/O warning : failed to load external entity

2011-03-31 Thread anthonyjschu...@gmail.com
I get this error message in 11.04 beta, accompanied by the following,
which may or may not be related:

Sometimes, ~20% of the time, when an application gains focus, or is
maximized, the window displays is blank and white. The window does not
display application content until some combination of minimizing,
maximizing, changing focus, or restarting the application is performed.
The exact sequence seems to vary.

[Compiz] [Bug 746697] [NEW] panels come forward when any fullscreen application opens a new window

2011-03-31 Thread Adam Dingle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

On Natty, if any application in fullscreen mode opens a new window, then
the Unity panel and launcher will come to the foreground on top of the
fullscreen view. To see this, open gedit, choose View->Fullscreen, then
press Ctrl+F for Find. As the Find dialog appears, the Unity panel and
launcher will appear too.

I've also observed this behavior in Gimp and Shotwell. It probably
occurs in other applications too.

This also happens when logged into the classic desktop: there, the
gnome-panels come to the foreground. It does not, however, happen when
running Metacity instead of Compiz in the classic desktop. So it
apppears that the behavior is related to Compiz.

are all fixed now. If you do get this again, please open a _new_ bug
with the stack, as this one is holding a bunch of info that isn't useful
in the dupes).

[Compiz] [Bug 731559] Re: Window content disappears leaving just a white area after enlarging window

2011-03-31 Thread Andrey Kozlov
To reproduce the problem
 * open several (5-10) windows. Windows must not be minimised.
 * resize active window or open extra windows.

I have Natty installed on my atom based netbook. I didn't have the same
problem with it. My guess is that the problem could be triggered by
NVidia driver.

[Compiz] [Bug 698136] Re: invalid uninstantiatable type `(null)' in cast to `GObject'

2011-03-31 Thread Stefan Löffler
I haven't switched to natty (amd64) but am still on maverick (with
compiz 0.8.6 as provided by the official repos). Here it still occurs,
so if there is a fix it hasn't been backported yet. I do intend to
switch to natty when it is released, though, so I can reevaluate it
there in about a month.

[Compiz] [Bug 734195] Re: decoration disappears after resume from hibernation

2011-03-31 Thread Omer Akram
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

In this case look for a .crash file with the name unity-window-decorator
in it.

[Compiz] [Bug 709709] Re: compiz not working proporly

2011-03-31 Thread Omer Akram
Thanks for the bug report. are you still facing the first issue of not
being able to drag windows? Also the 'Visual Effects' tab was removed
because now Unity is the main desktop shell and if the option to disable
'visual effects' is provided people will end up with only metacity and
also the change between gnome-panel and unity is a little too big to
enable people to switch between them.

About the driver problem I believe that issue should be fixed too.

If you are still facing any issue please report separate bugs for each
issue.

issue please report a new bug with the .crash file created after the
unity-window-decorator crash in you /var/crash directory. you can either
double click or open that file with 'ubuntu-bug' command line option.

[Compiz] [Bug 729652] Re: Natty 05 March Daily Buld Compiz crash on boot

[Compiz] [Bug 740840] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in CompWindow::id()

2011-03-31 Thread Zaskar
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 743011 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/743011

Same problem here, with amsn and fgo (FlightGear gui), but not Ubuntu
(slackware64-13.1 based and xfce). I have latest compiz, from git as is today
(March, 31), and backtrace says that some how it looks for a windows's id when
that window is NULL (line 1292, compiz-core/src/even.cpp), and I've just
changed a little before that a condition to get in some "if" every time this
pointer is NULL, and it's working ok. I've haven't read carefully compiz
source, I've just made some quick test and some guessing and come up with this
(almost sure very wrong) patch that is changing the condition in line 1225 from
event.cpp in compiz's source from:
case ReparentNotify:
w = findWindow (event->xreparent.window);
if (!w && event->xreparent.parent == priv->root) ...
to
case ReparentNotify:
w = findWindow (event->xreparent.window);
if (!w) ...
I'm posting it just in case some developer find this usefull for catching the
bug and writing a real patch.

[Compiz] [Bug 745839] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()

2011-03-31 Thread Observer
Yes it did. Unfortunately I can only verify that compiz was working in
Jaunty, 'cos I was not able to get Karmic, Lucid or Maverick to work on
my machine at all.

Thanks! ... any other info that might be useful?

btw, I need to add " acpi=off noacpi nolapic" in my kernel boot up.
Also, I am using grub 0.97
