[Compiz] [Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet when compiz is the windows manager
Hi all, I've been watching this bug on two computers (both are constantly updated natties), and I have noticed that Skype icons appears after each second restart. So at each "odd" restart it's invisible, but at each "even" restart it's visible. I have seen checked, and it's not dependent on the login (I can log out and in, but Skype will be still in the "current state"), but the restart. I haven't applied any other workaround. I don't know whether this helps. And to join tkoun... I have switched two machines to Natty that I'm rarely using. The one that is the most used is still on Maverick, and I won't upgrade it until this bug is fixed. If it won't be fixed (maybe due to it's "Invalidity" or "Low" priority) then I may consider switching to Debian or other distro. I have seen many new Ubuntu versions at the beginning (even in alpha/beta), but this one with this bug seems to be the worse (and I'm sorry, if I need to contact my colleagues all day long by Skype, and I'm effectively unable to do that, then how should I consider this bug?). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/767095 Title: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet when compiz is the windows manager ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet when compiz is the windows manager
> Uniity does not have notification area for systray apps. Just a small correction - unity *does* have a notification area for systray apps - that's where Skype appears - and that is where the 1-pixel problem is happening, almost as if the notification area were being created 1 pixel high and apps were being added to it (and hence their icons scaled to 1 pixel) before it gets resized. @tkoun It's not a "show stopper." This bug doesn't need more duplicates for progress to be made on it (and generally speaking, no duplicates are necessary for progress to be made on a bug). [Compiz] [Bug 775196] Re: notification area doesn't work properly under compiz
Tested on Ubuntu 11.04 and Mint 11. Fully reproducible. Steps to reproduce: 1. log on to Gnome (no effects) desktop 2. sudo apt-get install fusion-icon (will be used to test settings) 3. sudo apt-get install keepassx (just a sample Qt application, can be skype or any other), 4. change KeePassX (or any other Qt application) settings to display tray icon, 5. if the tray icon appears correctly, just restart Qt app (icon should be reduced to 1 pixel, if not, repeat restarting) 6. use Fusion Icon to change window manager to Metacity, 7. restart Qt application a few times - now the tray icon should appear correctly each start 8. switch back window manager to Compiz 9. restart Qt application a few times - the tray icon disappears most of the time Note that due to random behavior all user submitted "workarounds" are misleading, because none of them really works (except disabling Compiz or restarting gnome-panel in any way). People (including myself) notice, they change this and that, and suddenly the icon appears. But it's random. It's not a result of any particular user activity. The one and only workaround for this problem is replacing the window manager with metacity. This bug could be also posted as gnome, gnome-panel, gnome-notification- area bug, but it's really difficult to tell what's wrong here. As my test procedure shows - the problem is somewhere between gnome-panel and Compiz. [Compiz] [Bug 778490] Re: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04
I've done 2 fresh installs of 11.04, and I haven't made any modifications to my system beyond installing some applications (gimp, pidgin, chromium, gftp) On both installs, I was affected by this bug. System randomly logs me out. Most often while browsing, (my main browser is chromium) sometimes the system even logs out while the computer is idle. It will happen multiple times. The log out then log back in work around does not work for me. My current session has logged out on me 3 times this evening. Fugitsu lifebook.
