Come on, guys! The problem is still here. I do not want to blame Ubuntu
devels, but nVidia seems to be far more superior to cause this problem
(no offence). Isn't there any kind of way, where some Head coach from
Ubuntu call Head coach from nVidia and say: Hey, you sux, this is not
working?

Re: [Compiz] [Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank

2011-07-30 Thread Josh Leverette
In time, I've learned that the ubuntu devs don't care very much about
certain bugs. Take celestia for example: it needs to depend on the
textures pack so that the planets other than earth have textures, but in
a year and a half or more, nothing has been done. This nvidia bug
affects a small percentage of users, and nvidia knows about it, so the
ubuntu devs are just going to let nvidia handle it in their time frame.
I'm sure that there is a way the blank windows could be worked around by
modifying the graphics stack a little, but don't count on it happening.
They have bigger bugs to squash most likely.

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: compiz

I have discovered a fairly consistent behavior: When multiple
aplications are open, the bug can manifest itself as: the active
window is blank (white in my case... title bar displays but nothing
else.) while windows behind it will display content. If one of the
unfocused windows is selected, it gains focus, and goes blank. The
previously blank window, no longer focused, regains its content and is
  no longer blank.

Switching between applications, the ones gaining focus always going
blank only to regain content after losing focus is quite infuriating.

To force an application to quit being blank, another application is
opened, and applications are switched until the blanking behavior
begins for the new application. (I use terminal as my dummy app...)
Terminal is given focus, observed to be blank, and closed. The
aplication which was behind the dummy application gains focus, and
does not go blank. (this has been verified in classic desktop, not yet
  in unity)

affect all nVidia users using compiz. I would guess vast majority uses

[Compiz] [Bug 726101] Re: unity-window-decorator crashed with SIGSEGV in event_filter_func()

2011-07-30 Thread Sam_
Reproducable.
Run gdb backtrace against totem.
Totem window darkens, ctrl+c in terminal doesn't help, no key inputs accepted.
Totem needs to be killed.
Terminal needs to be killed also.
Then unity-window-decorator crashes.
Run alt+f2 unity --replace, then compiz crashes.
