[Compiz] [Bug 855991] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in XFindOnExtensionList()

2011-09-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
Rory, logs and backtrace or it didn't happen.

(This looks much like an NVIDIA-specific bug so far. If -fglrx has a
similar crash, it could be coincidental, but should be investigated in
its own right regardless, so please file a separate bug report.)

2011-09-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
It looks to me like an incorrect pointer is being passed from NVIDIA's
GL blob into XFindOnExtensionList(), so I concur with Sam's analysis
that it's a driver bug, probably specific to -nvidia. This should be
escalated to NVIDIA.

It did not occur while doing what #15 says, but I confirm I also could
reproduce a bug like #15 said. In my reproduction (after the "real"
occurrence ), Apport did not start, I had a system hang-out for a
second, then the top bar reapeared. It looked like this bug.

Re: [Compiz] [Bug 831769] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in sigc::signal_base::impl()

2011-09-27 Thread tronkel
Hi Klaus

Yes I have had Unity 3D working in Oneiric Beta. I think are are plenty of
problems related to the Unity Plugin. It seems though to be a bit more
stable after the latest Beta 2 updates have come through and been applied.
Sometimes I have started CCSM, switched on say, Window Decorations or the
Desktop Cube and have then tried to resolve plugin conflicts. This is the
point where the system reports a Compiz crash.

I think the best strategy is to uncheck the Unity Plugin in CCSM, switch on
the effects you want, resolve any conflicts and then switch on the Unity
Plugin again. Sometimes an attempt to start Gnome 3 instead of Unity 3D
results in the Unity Plugin unchecking itself and then you have to start the
whole thing once more from the beginning. This whole idea of the Unity
Desktop being so dependent on a Compiz Plugin is not a wonderful idea IHMO.
The thing is still fundamentally broken sadly.
Gnome 3 will not run properly at all on my system even if gnome-shell is
installed in its latest incarnation.

On another subject entirely to you have a relative called Werner Reichl in
Vienna? He runs a training centre here in Vienna and does Linux training
there.

MfG,

Best regards

Jack

Yesterday (2011-09-26) evening update from main repositories (including
a full update of unity/ubuntu-desktop) => VLC no longer crashes or
resize out of sense with the playlist => VLC can start in unity, the
only side issue now is I cannot move the window. VLC is stuck to the top
bar. You can have full screen or resize the back of VLC window. No way
to move the window.

[Compiz] [Bug 859885] Re: Minimizing a window should switch focus to the windows underneath it

2011-09-27 Thread Didier Roche
** Description changed:

When you minimize a window to the launcher, it remains with the focus,
meaning that, for example, the global menu is the menu of the now minimized
window.
- The focus should automatically go to the window immediately underneath it or,
if no other window is open, to the desktop.

Start firefox. Maximize it. Minimize it. Right click in launcher and
quit firefox from there. A little prowling and its not obvious how its
happening though

[Compiz] [Bug 860406] [NEW] compiz shows unexpected results on unfolded rotating cube

2011-09-27 Thread Fabian Kaczmarczyck
Public bug reported:

If I rotate my desktop cube via mouse (or not cube, because I got eight
desktop) and then unfold it, the cube gets far away and windows are shown

I thought that either you cant rotate the cube or you cant unfold it.

I use compiz 0.8.6 with ubuntu 10.10. The 3D windows are activated.

[Compiz] [Bug 750386] Re: compiz crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2011-09-27 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I've been able to reproduce (bug 860317)

I opened a session and had a staking problem with the switcher, opened a
terminal and entered "unity --reset" to see if it improved things.

Since I didn't run the command in the background and couldn't close the
terminal, I opened another tab and entered the command again "unity
--reset &"

I tested alt-tab again to check if it fixed the problem (it did, at
least for that session) then closed both terminal tabs with CTRL+D, this
crash happened on close of the terminal
