[Compiz] [Bug 866752] Re: Sometimes configure events are missed and windows move slow as a result

2011-10-13 Thread Carey Underwood
Still occurs with with -proposed (1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu5)

Interesting behaviour: a window smaller than the screen will move
fluidly, until its touched a screen edge. At that point, it never moves
fluidly again.

However, I also seem to be experiencing several other bugs which where also
marked as fixed in (1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu4); one's I've checked:
 * bug #748840: Open inkscape, then click on this window; when inkscape
opens, it steals focus.
 * bug #863328: Open three terminals, minimize one, and trigger spread; when
closing spread, the minimized window is animated briefly at its unminimized
location.
 * bug #869919: Full screen this window, and then alt-tab to the inkscape
window from before to bring it to front.  Alt-drag the inkscape window;
inkscape window disappears below the fullscreen window after releasing the drag.
* bug #832150:

Is it possible that the changes got clobbered in some way, such that the
released packages didn't actually include the fixes?

[Compiz] [Bug 873772] [NEW] Provide a way for system administrators / distributions to override per-profile settings defaults in libcompizconfig

2011-10-13 Thread Sam Spilsbury
Public bug reported:

Currently if a distribution wishes to override the defaults in compizconfig,
they can only do it globally by patching the metadata file at runtime. This
makes upgrades weird and means that you cant do it per-profile. We should
provide a way for distributions to specify settings defaults per-profile
in case there are multiple different sessions in the case of new installations

I think the update for this is still in proposed updates and hasn't been put in
the main update repo yet.I hardly think it is a severe flaw as it usually only
happens when you first log in.The fix for compiz in propsed works for me but i
also reinstalled the official iso and noticed that this bug wasn't patched in
time for the official release.Just be patient or enable the proposed updates
and update yourself.

This is broken for me on a vanilla Oneiric install from ISO image
released on launch day and required updates as of 14/10/2011. How is
this happening? You're forcing Unity on the users and it has a flaw as
severe as this. I enjoy using Unity ... as long as it works.

[Compiz] [Bug 775060] Re: Random GUI "freezes" in Natty (can only move the cursor) (might be a segfault)

2011-10-13 Thread Kurt Taylor
Same environment as before - This just happened again.

Since the desktop was frozen, of course, except for the mouse, I sshed
and looked at the running processes. All normal except for a defunct
process for firefox, although, the X server had consumed a lot of time.
Firefox may be a clue, but this happens with Chrome as well.

None of the above workarounds work for me.

[Compiz] [Bug 873628] [NEW] Logitech Performance MX Darkfield mouse buttons support is incomplete

2011-10-13 Thread Fabián Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

The fingertip "Zoom" (Button 13) and "Switch apps" (Button 10) buttons
are not mapped on this mouse.

The "Zoom" button should be mapped to Ctrl, thus enabling the zoom
feature in most apps when scrolling the wheel (or "Super" if one
prefers the Zoom feature provided by Compiz).

The "Switch apps" button should be mapped to the Scale feature in
Compiz.

As a workaround, such buttons can be mapped to the above or to other
functions using the compizconfig-settings-manager package.

[Compiz] [Bug 861088] Re: When switching workspaces with workspace switcher previous Ws contents are momentarily displayed

2011-10-13 Thread Greg Auger
The bug in this question (relating to the workspace switcher) is fixed
with the version of compiz in natty-proposed.

I suggest that people having a similar problem with the desktop cube
report a seperate bug.

[Compiz] [Bug 873553] [NEW] Double resize following alt-tab

2011-10-13 Thread Paul Sladen
Public bug reported:

This could be transient, but I'm now seeing a double window-resize
following each Alt-tab completion. Eg.

  1. Alt-tab to move away
  2. Alt-tab to move back.

What happens:

  3. Window raises.
  4. Window resizes (local menu appearing briefly)
  5. Window resizes second time (global menu appearing again)

What should happen:

  3–5. Window should raise.

[Compiz] [Bug 762032] Re: alt+tab broken with click-to-focus off

2011-10-13 Thread pfaffman
@tim:

Oh. Great. I misread that you fixed this bug somewhere else.

I'm surprised that more people don't use focus-follows-mouse. I suppose
that I might use alt-tab more often than I type in a window partially
obscured by another. I guess not using focus-follows-mouse is the path
of least resistance. I guess I'll see how annoying that is.

I'm installing Xubuntu now.

[Compiz] [Bug 872960] [NEW] In Oneiric, "Wobbly Windows" Compiz effect has a lag

2011-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Dragging around windows in Oneiric while using Wobbly Windows effect
doesn't go as smoothly as in Natty. The windows stays "hard" for seconds
before it starts wobbling and sometimes it won't wobble at all. This lag
seems to happen randomly, but very often.

This sounds related.

I've noticed a couple things about this bug:

- It only happens on my laptop with an ATI graphics card

- It only happens with some fonts (including the default
font). If I change to some other fonts, the problem
  goes away.

[Compiz] [Bug 793289] [NEW] DoS window manager with extremely long error

2011-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: vinagre

displaying extremely long error causes the window manager to crash.
if the keyboard doesn't respond , login in tty and run "compiz&" .

test case:

emanuel@emanuel-desktop:~$ vinagre --file=`python -c "print 'A'*115000"`

(vinagre:8697): Gdk-WARNING **: Native Windows wider or taller than 65535
pixels are not supported
vinagre: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

sometimes it print other messages :

emanuel@emanuel-desktop:~$ vinagre --file=`python -c "print 'A'*115000"`

(vinagre:8766): Gdk-WARNING **: Native Windows wider or taller than 65535
pixels are not supported
The program 'vinagre' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 313 error_code 158 request_code 148 minor_code 8)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Compiz] [Bug 783534] Re: Move to Workspace have to be pressed twice

2011-10-13 Thread autra
Hello everyone,

It's been a long time this bug has been opened, let's try to make it
triaged!

I am still unable to reproduce the bug and I thought it might be related to
some compiz plugins.
Johan, Brendan and Stephan, can you tell me which plugins are you using in
compiz?

Thank you very much

For me, dragging windows across edges works fine.

But dragging icons (i.e. drag-and-drop, or DnD) is erratic and usually
does not work.

[Compiz] [Bug 836023] Re: New compiz alt-tab switcher window is slow to appear

2011-10-13 Thread Simone Bordet
I concur with this bug.

Other switchers have the capability to configure a "popup" timeout,
which is usually around 200 ms.

However, 200 ms for fast typers is way too long.

Unfortunately there is no way to configure that timeout (if it is a
timeout) for the new Application Switcher in 11.10.

Thanks !
