[Compiz] [Bug 876575] Re: Moving windows between workspaces causes them to "jitter" / jump around

2011-11-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Description changed:

This bug occurs in combination with window snapping

  - Drag any window to the right or left side of the current workspace to make
it snap at either side (fill one half of the desktop)
  - activate expo mode
  - try to drag the window to a different workspace
  - See what happens: The mouse and the window start jumping around very fast.

This also seems to happen when moving windows between workspaces with
  Shift+Ctrl+Alt+.
+
+ WORKAROUND:
+
+ In ccsm, go to General > OpenGL and disable "Sync To VBlank".
+ (To install ccsm you need to install the package
"compizconfig-settings-manager")

2011-11-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can't reproduce the issue with the above instructions, but I can reproduce
the problem by moving windows with Shift+Ctrl+Alt+. And the problem
is solved for me using this proposed fix:
lp:~vanvugt/compiz-core/fix-880707.2

@nimu, please clarify if that is the same "jitter" problem as you
originally described.

@traxxas, the bug description says that compiz bindings were working for
the person who reported this bug. Only external programs (i.e. not
compiz) had a problem with receiving keypresses. I suggest you
log a new bug, or find a different one that fits your symptoms better.

[Compiz] [Bug 824099] Re: Max GL texture size can break multi-head

2011-11-28 Thread HyperHacker
I should note that the description is somewhat inaccurate:
1) Multi-head isn't really the problem, just the easiest way to reproduce it. A
single display with a high enough resolution can trigger it as well.
2) There are two separate limits: max texture size and max framebuffer size.
The former can be worked around by breaking large windows into multiple
textures, but this won't help the latter. GL init fails and all drawing
operations do nothing, leaving the user with a display of random uninitialized
VRAM (i.e. corrupted display, thick slanted lines, chunks of wallpaper etc).

[Compiz] [Bug 771448] Re: desktop wall edge flipping broken

2011-11-28 Thread vob
with the help of previous comments i think that i found a workaround to that
bug.

it seems that the default mousepoll plugin polling time of 40 ms is
causing that bug.

when you set the polling time to maximum value of 500 ms (and do a
compiz --replace, because it doesnt seem to change that on the fly) edge
flipping works like a charm.

so, if you dont use magnifier, enhanced desktop zoom or show mouse
plugin which all depend on the mousepoll plugin, you can easily set the
polling time to maximum value without unwanted effects.

[Compiz] [Bug 897312] [NEW] oneiric workspace switcher - same application instance on all screens

2011-11-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Recently upgraded to Oneiric. Now when I use workspace switcher, the
same instance of an application comes up on all screens, rendering
workspaces useless, since they are all virtually the same. For
instance, when I bring up firefox and go to a website, I can then open
another workspace, bring up (what I want to be) a separate invocation of
firefox, but I get the same website, and have to leave it to go where I
want. Couldn't find any mention in this in the list of bugs after
running ubuntu-bug.

[Compiz] [Bug 897291] [NEW] Compiz Crashes When Screen is Locked and Laptop Docked

2011-11-28 Thread Neal Gamradt
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 with the default screen lock. I have an HP
Elitebook that I mount to a docking station at work. There appears to
be an issue with the "Turn off after" feature of the screen lock and
being docked.

For example, if I set "Turn off after" to 30 minutes, if I am away from
my computer for more than 30 minutes, when I come back, then the window
manager (Compiz) will have crashed. If I change it to 10 minutes, and
come back in 15 minutes, then Compiz will have also crashed. However,
if I return before it has attempted to shut the screen off, then
everything is fine. Also, this doesn't seem to ever happen when hooked
up to an external monitor or when the laptop is undocked.

My "Screen" settings are currently set to:

Turn off after: 1 hour

Lock: On

Lock screen after: Screen turns off

I don't know if there is a way to log what has caused the Compiz crash,
but this is a very annoying bug.

[Compiz] [Bug 890376] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 Window focus issue, when using Expo

2011-11-28 Thread fedesog
It looks like (at least in my case) that window focus moves to a window,
not necessarily the last used one, from the workspace I'm leaving. Expo
focus rules should probably be like changing workspace with keyboard
shortcuts (Desktop Wall Plugin)

[Compiz] [Bug 874093] Re: Print Screen broken with 3D accelerated desktops (Unity 3D)

2011-11-28 Thread heco
Hi,

"In 11.10 you will see the background and the mouse cursor but no
windows or menu bars.."

I encoutered the same problem with a Virtualbox installation and Unity-
3D. The same system, running Unity-2D, works fine.

[Compiz] [Bug 798868] Re: unity video tearing when moving windows in oneiric with nvidia-current

2011-11-28 Thread Peter Ries
Hard to tell if it's the same effect as in original posting, but the
description of Reid Kaufman, Nate Wiebe fits best.

Good and smooth desktop performance only moving windows around is like
slow-mo. Windows lagging behind mouse cursor when being moved about 1-2
seconds (resizing as well) - smooth non flickering, but way too slow.

I installed a fresh oneiric ubuntu 11.10 on my netbook Samsung NC10 with
intel graphic (OK, no probs) and on my desktop with onboard nVidia 8300
(slow window movement here!).

Out of frustration after "nvidia-current" and "current with updates" and
most recent from nvidia website in combination with vsync on/off,
tripplebuffer tricks a.s.o. didn't work I finally switched both
machines to Lubuntu 11.10. Everything OK on both machines because no
compositing on desktop by default.

As I wanted some eyecandy I installed xcompmgr on both machines with
just shadows attached to my windows: the effect is back on my nvidia-
machine just like on ubuntu/unity!

So I suppose it's not unity but nvidia + compositing (+ current xorg-
version-of ubuntu?)

I have no idea where to search nor what to post to help to find a
solution to this.

[Compiz] [Bug 874255] Re: Expo in multi-monitor (upside-down) shows corrupted

2011-11-28 Thread fedesog
Same problem with Ubuntu 11.10 Unity 64bit, ATI 5750 and open source drivers.
On a left-right screen configuration left screen render the effect correctly
while the right screen is corrupted (like in Stéphane screenshot) and doesn't
accept mouse input while I would expect Expo to mirror the effect and accept
input from either screen.
Changing "Multi Monitor Mode" setting in compiz Expo doesn't make any
difference.

[Compiz] [Bug 896942] [NEW] orange window snap box appears when approaching launcher

2011-11-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Whenever I change work space and then try to approach the launcher I get
the window snap orange box on the left side of the screen when I don't
even have a a window being dragged at it, then the orange box stays
there until I grab a window and then snap it. This seems to happen
whenever I change work space and immediately try to use the launcher.
This is Ubuntu 11.10.
