[Compiz] [Bug 888039] Re: Gradual degradation in desktop performance.
It definitely is slower :). The more my CPU is used the slower it gets. If I'm running rather intense processes then the animations will slooowly (but accurately!) perform. [Compiz] [Bug 888039] Re: Gradual degradation in desktop performance.
No problem. We can wait. The "slow-motion" animations will be directly related to the timing fixes I did in compiz. That should have been fixed in ppa:vanvugt/compiz version "vv3" and later. Although one of the (good) side-effects of fixing the timing and general graphics smoothness is that everything might look a little slower. Because you're seeing more unique frames per second than you would without the PPA. That doesn't mean it's actually slower. My intel laptop hasn't really gotten much better. It's not the really badly affected one (it was the nvidia desktop), but it's not up to the performance of Mutter. As Florin stated, it has been snappier (though animations have an odd tendency to be slow-motion as the system load is higher). [Compiz] [Bug 888039] Re: Gradual degradation in desktop performance.
Understood. It is just correct practice to get feedback from the person who created the bug. That's because very often the people subscribing to a bug logged by someone else actually have a different issue, and it takes a long time to realize. I'm not saying that's definitely the case here. Hi Daniel, As previously mentioned, despite using your ppa, I'm also getting the performance degradation. Unfortunately, the command you just posted does not restore the performance either. If the workaround at the top of this bug and my PPA do not solve the problem, then it's likely you have a very different bug.
