[Compiz] [Bug 806255] Re: Unity/compiz intercepts keystrokes from grabbed windows.
FYI, the root cause of this bug appears to be because compiz uses XkbStateNotify, which is part of the X Keyboard Extension. Using this extension has the unfortunate side-effect (by design) of ignoring grabs held by other clients and still giving you key events even when you shouldn't be receiving them. This is documented is the spec: "As with all Xkb events, XkbStateNotify events are reported to all interested clients without regard to the current keyboard input focus or grab state." [Compiz] [Bug 901211] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in CompositeScreen::compositingActive()
Just installed XRDP and attempted to use terminal services from a windows box to connect - Compiz crashed a few minutes into attempting to load the desktop of the RDP session. The RDP session did not fail, is not hung, mouse moves but no icons or dashboard shows up, just the background that I had configured. Leaving the session for 5-10 minutes (had to register Launchpad to post) has no change. Fresh 12.04 install from torrent tonight. System using terminal services to connect is Windows 7 Ultimate. Chose to relaunch Compiz, and it seems to be working fine. [Compiz] [Bug 872207] Re: When Firefox is running in Unity, drop-down menus sometime close when opened
Other programs affected by this (or a similar) issue are editors like Kile and TexMaker for LaTeX. I've noticed this with both programs: maximize the window, use Ctrl-Alt-Arrows to navigate away (perhaps to look something up) and then return. The window won't be properly focused, meaning that it won't accept further text input until re-focused. This right click problem happens frequently for us (several users). It might related to more than firefox. I get the same/similar problem when using other programs too (one on a daily basis). TortoiseHg (phyton i think) have problem with right clicks too... cant say for sure if it is related. However, it is very easy to reproduce. [Compiz] [Bug 948371] [NEW] After closing last window on workspace, the keyboard doesn't react at any keypress
Public bug reported: How to reproduce : - Have a workspace with only one window - Close it - Try to switch on a another workspace or use any keyboard shortcut : nothing happens - Only way to get back to a working configuration is to switch to another application by clicking an app in the launcher I don't always experience this bug, i'm having it right now on my desktop but not on my laptop (both running precise). I've experienced it on other machines and on Oneiric too. I've asked a question about this on AskUbuntu a while ago ( http://askubuntu.com/questions/89046/keyboard-shortcuts-dont-work-when- no-window-left-on-current-workspace ) at that time I had a rather exotic desktop configuration, but now I run Unity with almost no setting changed and it still happens. [Compiz] [Bug 872207] Re: When Firefox is running in Unity, drop-down menus sometime close when opened
@Sam: Any word on this re: firefox/thunderbird menus not appearing of disappearing after workspace switching? It's been 4 months since the first report on this issue without any resolution or workaround, and it's a constant irritation. I appreciate that most of the work here is voluntary contributed time -- and I'm happy to debug / code / contribute as well (as I'm very motivated to see this fixed) -- but communication is obviously essential for community-driven software and there's been very little feedback re: who's taken ownership of this issue, what they've tried and discovered, what should be tried next, and so forth. I'd love to help, but don't want to duplicate effort, and a little guidance on where to start would be most helpful. I'd hate to see this issue persist into 12.04, especially since it will be a LTS release. [Compiz] [Bug 948064] [NEW] Compiz: little problems with title bar when not maximized.
Public bug reported: - OS version: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alpha 2 updated to today (it should be the same as the beta, but I'm not sure) - Compiz version: 0.9.7.0 - Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch) - Release: 12.04 When a window isn't maximized if you put your mouse over a button (close, minimize, maximize) it didn't show you the "button over" image. Also if in: System settings -> Universal access, you increase the font size, nothing will happen in the title bar. All of that work if the windows is maximized and the button and the title are include in the top panel (with unity). Sorry if the bug isn't important and if I made mistakes (I'm italian). [Compiz] [Bug 886667] Re: boot moves desktop icons
By initialized properly I mean: The X window properties: top.height = bottom.height = left.width = right.width = 0 So here it's not a matter of when Unity/Compiz updates the top.height (panel) and the left.width (launcher). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886667 Title: boot moves desktop icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/886667/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 886667] Re: boot moves desktop icons
This is not a duplicate of bug #737758. That bug describes how the whole desktop icon container moves horizontally due to an inconsistent handling of the unity launcher width. This bug brings up another issue, i.e when the desktop icon container width and/or height sizes are defined smaller than the correct sizes. Greater sizes however will work correctly as icon locations are pixeloriented. The specific issue here is that the desktop icon container height is defined smaller than the correct size which then causes vertical compression moving any icons located below the container (workarea) upwards. The bug is that X window properties are not properly initialized for the Unity session but inherits old X settings from XGetWindowProperty, here top.height=300, which indicates a panel height of 300 pixels thus reducing the icon container height accordingly causing compression and overlapping of desktop icons. So, undupping this one from #737758. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 737758 Desktop icons move after login -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886667 Title: boot moves desktop icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/886667/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 947935] [NEW] Xubuntu 11.10 - Water effect not working
Public bug reported: Hello, the water effect is not working in Xubuntu 11.10. I tested this on a virtual machine as well as on my Xubuntu 11.10 installation. When the water effect is enabled the screen darkens as long as the effect would be active. All other effects (e.g. fire, animations, cube etc) are working without any problems. When I run compiz in a terminal I receive the following error: "compiz (water) - Error: failed to load bump map program" - I guess that this is somehow related... However I tried to change some settings, restarted compiz etc. and I was able to get the water effect working (I wasn't able to reproduce this)...once I restarted my system I had the reported error from below. So I doesn't seem to be a driver issue. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947935 Title: Xubuntu 11.10 - Water effect not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/947935/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
