[Compiz] [Bug 747748] Re: windows are not created in primary display screen

2012-04-05 Thread FlashBuster
Happens for me for most windows, but not all:
A new terminal opens always on the primary display.
System settings open on the secondary among others.
The Tabmenu opens whereever the mouse cursor is.
Why is this so different behaviour?! :((

[Compiz] [Bug 972194] Re: deja-dup does not display progress bar in unity launcher icon

2012-04-05 Thread JB5
OK, I've edited the deja-dup desktop file to include a quicklist to allow
access to the preferences, and ALSO displays the progress bar whilst running.
[code]
mkdir ~/.local/share/applications
cp /usr/share/applications/deja-dup.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/
cd ~/.local/share/applications/
gedit deja-dup.desktop
[/code]
Add the following to the bottom of the file save. NB save it as
deja-dup.desktop, DO NOT change the name or the progress bar will not be
painted onto the icon
[code]
X-Ayatana-Desktop-Shortcuts=Preferences;

[Preferences Shortcut Group]
Name=Backup-Preferences
Comment==Change your backup settings
Exec=deja-dup-preferences
TargetEnvironment=Unity
StartupNotify=true
Type=Application
Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;Archiving;Utility;Settings;X-GNOME-SystemSettings;
NotShowIn=GNOME;Unity;
[/code]
Lock this file to the launcher, i.e. drag the file from a nautilus instance
onto the launcher bar.
This seems to work, it is just a pity that the deja-dup pulled up by the dash
doesn't also have the progress bar.

for this package?

Cheers!

[Compiz] [Bug 974242] [NEW] Compiz edge detection code is moving windows against my will

2012-04-05 Thread Oli
Public bug reported:

My screen is Nvidia Twinview setup and I'm using Gnome Classic with
Compiz.

I have found that since updating to 12.04 windows have two detrimental
regressions.

 1. If I place a window between the first and second monitor (so it
overlaps both), the window is forced back over. I can understand this
for off-screen windows but between-monitors is silly. And there should
be an option for turning this off if there isn't one already.

 2. If I place a window half-off the bottom of the screen, all hell
breaks loose. Firstly it snaps back up so it's all on the screen (makes
sense if you like that sort of thing), but after that, there's no way to
detach it from the bottom of the screen. As soon as you do (and then
click anywhere) it snaps back down so the bottom of the window is back
at the bottom of the screen.

   The same is true with the top (if you move a window too high up (say
holding alt and left-click-dragging the bottom up). I've found no way to
work around this other than to close the window and start again, or
restart compiz.

The first is a dual-screen issue, the second might affect everybody; but
they definitely seem related.

[Compiz] [Bug 770283] Re: [fglrx]title bar does not update on non-maximized windows

2012-04-05 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
For those that are experiencing the problem - I have uploaded a compiz
package with the temporary workaround to my local PPA. You can try
installing it and checking, if this workaround fixes the problem in
mention. Be aware that it's not the final solution, as including such
fixes in the main compiz decor plugin is not the way to go - this should
go to compiz-plugins-workarounds. But it'll at least give me certainty
that it also fixes the problem on other machines.

ppa:sil2100/ppa

Reinstalling compiz packages is needed (most importantly compiz-plugins-
default).

Tell me if it makes any difference on your machines.

the switcher shows up OK on the first Monitor (the smaller one), but on the
second Monitor, although there's enough space, the display is shifted to the
left so that you cannot see everything.

2012-04-05 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
404? Where? I hope you are using the instructions provided on
https://launchpad.net/~sil2100/+archive/ppa to adding this PPA?

Please remember that the compiz workaround might have some buggy side-
effects as well. I just would like to know if it's 'the right way' with
the bug fix.

[Compiz] [Bug 864233] Re: Window focus problem

2012-04-05 Thread zzarko
This bug is present in 12.04 beta with all current updates. The bit that
bugs me the most: sometimes I open fullscreen Nautilus window by
accident, and when I click on X in top left corner to close it, I'm
actually closing some totaly different application - which wasn't what I
wanted at all.

[Compiz] [Bug 963470] Re: [regression] Unity 5.8+Compiz 0.9.7.2: Pressing Super+Tab or Super+W works, but unity does not respond to when Super is released.

2012-04-05 Thread zzarko
OK, Unity now works correctly with Super key, but there is one other
thing that bugs me: when I open CCSM, for Scale plugin, there is
Initiate Window Picker action (Shift+Alt+Up) that should show windows
from current workspace, and there is Initiate Window Picker For All
Windows (Super+W) that should show windows from all workspaces (at
least, that's the way it worked in 11.10).

In 12.04, both actions show windows from current workspace. This means
that there is no way to switch from window to window using Scale plugin.
And that has as a consequence the fact that there is NO WAY to drag and
drop between windows from different workspaces, or between maximized
windows (or, at least, I don't know how to do it).

There is a limited DND support via launcher, but I can only drop files
to applications registered for certain file type. If I want to drag a
file to GMail tab in firefox, for example, if firefox is on another
workspace (or Nautilus is maximized), I cannot do it (in 11.10 I
configured Picker For All Windows to activate on screen corner, and I
was able to drag and drop between any two windows).

[Compiz] [Bug 875672] Re: Banshee window isn't raised when clicking on it in the sound menu

2012-04-05 Thread Ricardo Mendonça Ferreira
I have the same problem, here's my slightly different description:

1) Start Banshee.
2) Have another application open and *with focus*, e.g. Firefox.
3) Click on sound menu (volume icon in the top panel). Click on banshee.
OR
4) Press the media key on the keyboard.

The Banshee window is not raised to the front (and contrary to the case
with the OP, there is no Unity sidebar pops up).

*The Banshee window is raised only if the Desktop area has focus*.

Like I mentioned before, this is probably a focus prevention issue. If
you lower the focus prevention level in CompizConfig Settings Manager as
I mentioned in my earlier post, you shouldn't be seeing this issue.

2012-04-05 Thread srgb
Sorry, but as you say you don't have a capacity to look at all bugs, so do
I - I don't have a capacity to upgrade my system to the latest version,
because I want stability.
I think it's much easier for you to open an OOO app on your test machines
with old and new ubuntus on them and verify if bug is on the old, but no
anymore on the new,... than for me to find a free machine, install ububtu
on it just to do the same.
Sorry for that, I can't provide you more data than that, but I wish ubuntu
to be better.

srgb, 9.04 is no longer a supported version of ubuntu. As such, bug

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
  After the update earlier today to Unity 5.8, I've found that when I try
 logging into Unity 3D, all I get is a solid black screen and my mouse
 cursor. I know it loaded some sort of desktop though, since I could still
 hit Ctrl+Alt+T and blindly type `sudo reboot` followed by my password to
 make my computer do a normal reboot.

  I do not get the same problem with GNOME Shell or Unity 2D (the latter
  of which I'm using now to report this bug), although for both the
  screen does temporarily turn black but only for a moment. Unity 5.6 3D
  used to work perfectly fine for me.

[Compiz] [Bug 974834] [NEW] todays update resulted in window decoration vanishing

2012-04-05 Thread Peter Miller
Public bug reported:

The update 2.5 hours ago (1:0.9.7.4-0ubuntu1) has resulted in all window
decoration vanishing from all windows, and the touchpad doesn't work (mouse
does).
.xsession-errors shows nothing relevant.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log shows nothing relevant.
I had to use metacity --replace in order to file this bug report (touch pad
works again).
