[Compiz] [Bug 974242] [NEW] Compiz edge detection code is moving windows against my will
Public bug reported: My screen is Nvidia Twinview setup and I'm using Gnome Classic with Compiz. I have found that since updating to 12.04 windows have two detrimental regressions. 1. If I place a window between the first and second monitor (so it overlaps both), the window is forced back over. I can understand this for off-screen windows but between-monitors is silly. And there should be an option for turning this off if there isn't one already. 2. If I place a window half-off the bottom of the screen, all hell breaks loose. Firstly it snaps back up so it's all on the screen (makes sense if you like that sort of thing), but after that, there's no way to detach it from the bottom of the screen. As soon as you do (and then click anywhere) it snaps back down so the bottom of the window is back at the bottom of the screen. The same is true with the top (if you move a window too high up (say holding alt and left-click-dragging the bottom up). I've found no way to work around this other than to close the window and start again, or restart compiz. The first is a dual-screen issue, the second might affect everybody; but they definitely seem related. For those that are experiencing the problem - I have uploaded a compiz package with the temporary workaround to my local PPA. You can try installing it and checking, if this workaround fixes the problem in mention. Be aware that it's not the final solution, as including such fixes in the main compiz decor plugin is not the way to go - this should go to compiz-plugins-workarounds. But it'll at least give me certainty that it also fixes the problem on other machines. ppa:sil2100/ppa Reinstalling compiz packages is needed (most importantly compiz-plugins- default). [Compiz] [Bug 963470] Re: [regression] Unity 5.8+Compiz 0.9.7.2: Pressing Super+Tab or Super+W works, but unity does not respond to when Super is released.
OK, Unity now works correctly with Super key, but there is one other thing that bugs me: when I open CCSM, for Scale plugin, there is Initiate Window Picker action (Shift+Alt+Up) that should show windows from current workspace, and there is Initiate Window Picker For All Windows (Super+W) that should show windows from all workspaces (at least, that's the way it worked in 11.10). In 12.04, both actions show windows from current workspace. This means that there is no way to switch from window to window using Scale plugin. And that has as a consequence the fact that there is NO WAY to drag and drop between windows from different workspaces, or between maximized windows (or, at least, I don't know how to do it). There is a limited DND support via launcher, but I can only drop files to applications registered for certain file type. If I want to drag a file to GMail tab in firefox, for example, if firefox is on another workspace (or Nautilus is maximized), I cannot do it (in 11.10 I configured Picker For All Windows to activate on screen corner, and I was able to drag and drop between any two windows). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963470 Title: [regression] Unity 5.8+Compiz 0.9.7.2: Pressing Super+Tab or Super+W works, but unity does not respond to when Super is released. [Compiz] [Bug 875672] Re: Banshee window isn't raised when clicking on it in the sound menu
I have the same problem, here's my slightly different description: 1) Start Banshee. 2) Have another application open and *with focus*, e.g. Firefox. 3) Click on sound menu (volume icon in the top panel). Re: [Compiz] [Bug 398429] Re: when I start GUI app (p4 diff for example) from gnome terminal it appers behind all windows
Sorry, but as you say you don't have a capacity to look at all bugs, so do I - I don't have a capacity to upgrade my system to the latest version, because I want stability. I think it's much easier for you to open an OOO app on your test machines with old and new ubuntus on them and verify if bug is on the old, but no anymore on the new,... than for me to find a free machine, install ububtu on it just to do the same. [Compiz] [Bug 974834] [NEW] todays update resulted in window decoration vanishing
Public bug reported: The update 2.5 hours ago (1:0.9.7.4-0ubuntu1) has resulted in all window decoration vanishing from all windows, and the touchpad doesn't work (mouse does). .xsession-errors shows nothing relevant. /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows nothing relevant. I had to use metacity --replace in order to file this bug report (touch pad works again). cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu precise (development branch) uname -a Linux hawk 3.2.0-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 3 18:33:15 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974834 Title: todays update resulted in window decoration vanishing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/974834/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
