[Compiz] [Bug 803943] Re: compiz consuming a lot of cpu

2012-06-11 Thread Raymond Wells
About my previous comment.. For some reason I thought I had installed
fglrx on this machine; but it would appear that it is not the case. So
the solution in comment #178 may not work.

[Compiz] [Bug 803943] Re: compiz consuming a lot of cpu

2012-06-11 Thread Raymond Wells
I had some success by opening up CompizConfig Settings Manager (Alt+F2,
ccsm assuming you have it installed.) and enabling "copy to texture" I
noticed the CPU usage on my machine dropped from a hard 10% to about 2%
even with programs open. I still find it odd that compiz's CPU usage
spikes when I drag windows or sometimes when I have smooth animations in
windows despite having the fglrx drivers installed, since it's supposed
to be hardware accelerated. Leads me to believe that something is
causing it to do more work than it should on the software side.

[Compiz] [Bug 1010863] Re: CTL-ALT-arrow no longer works to change workspaces

2012-06-11 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Susan, there are a few simple things to check:

1. Ensure the window you have focussed does not grab all keystrokes
(like VirtualBox or VMware).

2. Ensure the Ctrl+Alt+Arrow key bindings are still configured:
  (a) Run: ccsm
  (b) Go to Desktop > Desktop Wall > Bindings
  (c) Ensure "Move Left" and "Move Right" have key bindings configured still.

This became a problem only on my 32-bit partition after updates of 6-6 or 6-7.
I have a 64-bit partition and that seems to be unaffected.
Could it be possible that the lack of functionality is caused by either a bad
upgrade or something that I did?

[Compiz] [Bug 1011814] [NEW] After login sometimes compiz not running

2012-06-11 Thread Martin Wildam
Public bug reported:

Since installing Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin on my machine (same
hardware used for former 10.04), after login I am missing complete
compiz functionality sometimes (e.g. desktop wall).

Pressing ALT+F2 and running "compiz --replace" fixes the issue (done so
right before reporting this bug).

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it - my belly feeling tells me it could
be a timing issue during boot/login.

I hope you can see something from the logs.

[Compiz] [Bug 1007976] Re: Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace

2012-06-11 Thread roots
I can confirm the bug being related to the Place Windows Plugin.

The various plugin options (Workaround, Placement Mode etc.) don't make
any difference. The bug also affects windows that are given a fixed
viewport to open on via the Fixed Window Placement: At launch, the
window will appear on the assigned viewport, but it will jump left as
soon as one of the aforementioned actions (previous posts) is triggered.

[Compiz] [Bug 1006358] Re: Spring RTS does not maximize properly and crashes.

2012-06-11 Thread varikonniemi
How is the status of this bug? The crash is essentially down to the
particular hw setup, but the failure to maximize is either an unity bug,
or compatibility introduced in gnome-shell to workaround spring rts bug?
IT would be nice to have an official stance on this.

It is after all we are talking about the most populas OS operating
system and the most popular OS RTS exhibiting this severe
incompatibility problems...

[Compiz] [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus

2012-06-11 Thread papukaija
** Description changed:

- Global menu in general (not only in Unity) is very unergonomic on large
- screens (see the attached screenshot) because if you have a small window
- somewhere near the low right corner you have to move the cursor all the
- way up to to panel to reach the menu. I understand why the global menu
- was used for the netbook edition (it saves space and most windows are
- maximized), but since Unity is intended to be for the desktop edition
- there should be an option to switch to the traditional position of the
- app menu. It would be welcomed by many desktop users.

HI All,

I can confirm as well that the flicker issue is fixed. Another old bug
that I logged about it https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-
core/+bug/937700). But I too have a similar issue as Achim. This issue
has actually been around for a while, hoping it was related to the
flicker issue. When I try move and app to a different desktop, while in
Expo mode, the mouse and the app moves but the app does not move in
relation to the mouse. For instance moving the mouse 5cm will move the
app 10cm in the same direction. Doesn't happen all the time, kind of
like Achim, when I mouse the mouse quickly. This same issue also occurs
with snapped windows while not in expo mode. I logged a bug about this
quite some time ago
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/937665)

Is this related? If not how do i get attention to this issue on my bug
9=937665 as no actions have happened in 3 months?

Thanks so much for fixing the flicker, made Ubuntu REALLY ugly and not
recommendable at all.

[Compiz] [Bug 1007976] Re: Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace

2012-06-11 Thread Serrano Pereira
A can confirm what cro wrote, only I use the Desktop Wall instead of the
Desktop Cube. That means that we now have three very different
workarounds for this bug.
