[Compiz] [Bug 1029085] Re: Stuttering in games with high fps and Nvidia

2012-08-19 Thread namelezz
I tested it with Gnome Classic as already mentioned in the description,
so that's why I set it as a Compiz issue, because I have it there too.
And I tested it with Gnome Shell with Mutter, no problems there.

I think the priority should be high on this one because Steam is coming
to Ubuntu. And if Ubuntu sucks, many players will go back to Windows to
play the games.

2012-08-19 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the

might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system

libgcc1 version 1:4.7.1-6ubuntu1 required, but 1:4.7.1-7ubuntu1 is available
libglib2.0-0 version 2.33.8-1 required, but 2.33.8-1ubuntu1 is available
libxrandr2 version 2:1.3.2-2 required, but 2:1.4.0-1 is available
compiz-core version 1:0.9.8+bzr3249-0ubuntu2 required, but
1:0.9.8+bzr3249-0ubuntu4 is available
tzdata version 2012d-1 required, but 2012e-0ubuntu1 is available
gcc-4.7-base version 4.7.1-6ubuntu1 required, but 4.7.1-7ubuntu1 is available
libstdc++6 version 4.7.1-6ubuntu1 required, but 4.7.1-7ubuntu1 is available
lsb-base version 4.0-0ubuntu22 required, but 4.0-0ubuntu23 is available

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Compiz] [Bug 1038673] [NEW] Windows change workspaces when screen size or orientation changes

2012-08-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a Thinkpad X61 Tablet with a rotating 1400x1050 screen, though I
assume similar things happen when rotating desktop monitors with
different resolutions.

Steps to reproduce:
- Run Unity with 3x3 workspaces, let's call them
  1 2 3
  4 5 6
  7 8 9
- Run one maximized program (terminal, for demonstration purposes) on each
workspace.
- Run "xrandr -o left" in the top left workspace.

Expected:
- The nine windows stay on the workspaces they are on.

Behaviour:
- The windows in workspaces 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 get moved to workspaces 1, 2, 4, 5,
destroying the previous window arrangement.
- After running "xrandr -o normal" to reset the screen orientation the windows
still keep their new workspaces.
- Rotating the screen again, this time in the bottom right workspace, moves all
the windows to workspaces 2 and 3. Rotating it back moves them again, to 8 and
9.

This makes using workspaces to arrange programs spatially pretty much
unusable when you also want to rotate the screen occasionally.

Since 3x3 workspaces are not the default, here's presumably the same problem
with the default 2x2 workspaces:
- Run Unity with 2x2 workspaces.
- Run one maximized terminal in each of the four workspaces.
- Run "xrandr -s 640x480" in the top left workspace's terminal.

Expected:
- The four terminals stay on the four workspaces they are on.

Behaviour:

[Compiz] [Bug 1029085] Re: Stuttering in games with high fps and Nvidia

2012-08-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
namelezz,

No I cannot reproduce the issue. And I am too busy to test games. I know
Metacity renders much faster than Compiz and that's something I hope
we'll have time to look at before 12.10.

As per comment #35, please test Gnome Classic (with effects, which is
compiz).

[Compiz] [Bug 976032] Re: Place plugin problem with panel in fullscreen and gnome classic

2012-08-19 Thread Chris Hemsing
Oli, thanks for the patch.

However, I think it is very unfortunate, that you package:

https://launchpad.net/~oli/+archive/compiz-place-patch/+files/compiz-
core_0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.4_amd64.deb

has exactly the same naming as the official:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/c/compiz/compiz-
core_0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.4_amd64.deb

Therefore, your proposed course of action:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oli/compiz-place-patch
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
does not work.

There are ways to circumvent it, sure! Nevertheless, it is unfortunate.

[Compiz] [Bug 1029085] Re: Stuttering in games with high fps and Nvidia

2012-08-19 Thread namelezz
I have observed it a little playing Trine 2. I don't think that the
games run with low fps, fps are fine as shown in game and in the compiz
benchmark. I think compiz skips a lot of frames. Usually when a game
runs with low fps the input is a little laggy because it's delayed but
in this case the input (mouse and keyboard) works fine. But when you
move a character in the game, he just "teleports" a little many times
per second and the game looks like it's stuttering. It looks the same as
in the video which I posted in the description. You can see the
capturing tool skipping the frames and the character teleports...

Daniel, could you reporduce the issue? You can take every game which is
demanding and test it. Run a game with 30 fps with compiz and then with
Mutter/Metacity.

Also, many of these issues have certainly been resolved in 12.04, at
least.

[Compiz] [Bug 1036944] Re: Expo on multiple monitors of different resolutions is partially missing

2012-08-19 Thread Chauncellor
You can actually see that even the second image is not correct - it's a
general issue with multi-monitor expose, which has historically been
pretty bad with compiz. There are a billion bugs throughout many years
dealing with this issue... See bug 919223 for starters. I don't know
whether to dupe or not so I'll leave it.

[Compiz] [Bug 1027647] Re: Compiz: Static Application Switcher doesn't include minimized windows

2012-08-19 Thread Gregoire Gentil
Not bad! Impressed that you found which option is the culprit. Indeed,
if I remove this option, minimized windows are included again in the
switcher but obviously there is no preview, which is still bad But I
prefer in the mean time an icon than nothing! Thanks. Hopefully, there
will be a patch soon. I can apply it myself.

Indeed, as this is planning on being implemenented in a much more
attractive fashion and there are other trackers for the issue, I'm going
to just close this report to try and reduce the noise in the bug
tracker.

Thanks for the bug, and sorry it's taken this long to get it fixed.

Hi! This is an old bug and many updates have been applied to compiz - If
this issue is still affecting you, can you:

1) make sure you're up to date
2) try and run 'unity --reset' in the +F2 dialogue

and see if the issue still occurs? Thanks!

Maybe it's your form of English but this is ridden with spoiled. You found
a solution and it's crappiest at best while being "endurable". Just go and
conform... Just f* those who give u something. Sorry for being
insensitive to this.

I can think of worse things... I can add I'm happy on Fedora 17.
