[Compiz] [Bug 862430] Re: window flicker for a short time after switching workspaces
Ok same instructions as above w/out installing Synaptic. For me, even if I lock the packages in Synaptic, it appears to have no effect on 'apt-get upgrade'. sudo apt-add-repository ppa:vanvugt/compiz-preproposed sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install compiz=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 compiz- core=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 compiz- gnome=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 compiz- plugins=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 compiz- plugins=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 compiz-plugins- default=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 libdecoration0=1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 (it will downgrade packages, allow it to continue) echo compiz hold | sudo dpkg --set-selections echo compiz-core hold | sudo dpkg --set-selections - That's it. If Ubuntu ever fixes the issue, or more likely you are forced to update because these packages are unmaintained and eventually it breaks the apt-get dependency chain, undo the hold with these commands... echo compiz install | sudo dpkg --set-selections echo compiz-core install | sudo dpkg --set-selections Sam Spilsbury, thanks for keeping the repository up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/862430 Title: window flicker for a short time after switching workspaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/862430/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1039847] [NEW] screensaver displays partial desktop
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I want to return to my desktop from a black screensaver, sometimes, when I nudge the mouse, I get a partial desktop as captured in the attached photo. This problem is intermittent. Note that there is an element of a security threat in this bug. Any stranger at my PC can detect my launcher apps as well as which app is open and has focus. In the example, Chromium browser is open and has focus. Fortunately, the bug masks the display of the browser window. [Compiz] [Bug 1039673] [NEW] window resize is crazy-slow
Public bug reported: Moving a window with alt-drag is responsive and easy to use.It can be accomplished in one fluid motion, with no noticiable latency. Resizeing with alt-drag is crazy slow. I'd guess it takes about 500ms between when you depress the middle mouse button and when the orange box appears. If you move the mouse during this 500ms window, compiz will get confused and resize the wrong window, or just transfer the focus to the window your mouse wandered into. The problem is particularly annoying if you're using sloppy-focus, but still quite noticiable and annoying with the default click-to-focus. On a laptop that supports 3d unless an attempt is made to extend the desktop onto a second monitor, when the attempt to use the second monitor is made a dialog pops up saying that unity is not supported and that unity-2d should be used instead.
