[Compiz] [Bug 1050166] [NEW] mouse pointer wraps around on first x screen instead of moving to 2nd x screen

2012-09-12 Thread deschmit
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu quantal (development branch)
Release:12.10

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

$ apt-cache policy compiz
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.9.8.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:0.9.8.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:0.9.8.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen

I have 2 independent X screens on my computer (I do not use twinview or any
"big screen" type of setup)
DISPLAY :0.0 is on the left
DISPLAY :0.1 is on the right

I expect the mouse pointer to move from the right edge of DISPLAY :0.0
to the left edge of DISPLAY :0.1 like it did in ubuntu 12.04.

4) What happened instead

In ubuntu 12.10 my mouse pointer wraps around on first X screen instead
of moving to 2nd X screen

If I try to move my mouse from DISPLAY :0.0 (computer monitor) to
DISPLAY :0.1 (my tv), the mouse pointer wraps from the right edge of my
DISPLAY :0.0 to the left edge of DISPLAY :0.0. It doesn't wrap the
other way around (left edge of DISPLAY :0.0 to right edge of DISPLAY
:0.0). The left edge of DISPLAY :0.0 is a hard boundary for the mouse
pointer (as it should be).

Compiz doesn't automatically start on DISPLAY :0.1. This is the default
behaviour in 12.04 too.
For an experiment I tried to start compiz on DISPLAY :0.1 to see if the mouse
behaviour changed. It did not.
The command I ran was
DISPLAY=:0.1 compiz --replace &

[Compiz] [Bug 980663] Re: Compiz won't start if "unredirect fullscreen windows" is enabled

2012-09-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
All,

I would suggest waiting for compiz 0.9.8.2 in quantal (the full fix)
before verifying this bug. It's likely the unity fix by itself will not
be enough in some cases.

Later when people are happy with that and other unredirection fixes are
completed, they can be backported to compiz 0.9.7 for precise.

[Compiz] [Bug 980663] Re: Compiz won't start if "unredirect fullscreen windows" is enabled

2012-09-12 Thread Jan Rathmann
For me the fix seems to work. Unity still comes up properly if the
unredirect-option is set and the performance of a fullscreen OpenGL game
I started tentatively hints that unredirecting is indeed working. I
logged in for three times, one after a system reboot, no problem so far.
If I experience any bug in the future that seems to be introduced by
this update, I'll report it here.

Please, open another bug report for the Radeon problem (if there is no

2012-09-12 Thread Nice Testhouse
Additional info - Clicking on workspace switcher icon and using
Shortcut Super + S causes the crash.

Shortcut to switch between workspaces (Ctrl+Alt + Arrow Keys) and
shortcut to move focused window between workspaces (Shift+Ctrl+Alt +
Arrow Keys) works fine and does not cause the compiz to crash.

One information I can add here is that this bug also happens when

The expo plugin upstream is unchanged since 22 August. That's the

What has changed (I think) is the re-introduction of ubuntu distro
