The directory gets scanned so I would suggest just deleting:
/usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/libkconfig4.so

Sorry, I didn't notice this bug applies to all users including those who
don't need or want libkconfig4.so. Therefore, it's something we should
fix. Even if we just remove the file from future releases.

Well that's all well and good that that backend isn't supported, but how
does one switch backends so that one can launch ccsm without a segfault?

[Compiz] [Bug 862430] Re: window flicker for a short time after switching workspaces

2012-10-09 Thread Gregory M. Kapfhammer
I am writing to confirm that after allowing Ubuntu 12.04 to upgrade I
experience exactly the
same error as mia1dolfan (mia1dolfan). When this took place Unity did not work
correctly
and all of the menu bars, etc. were not visible. I can also confirm that
mia1dolfan (mia1dolfan)'s
suggestion for resolving the problem does return Unity to a usable state.
However, now I am
back to the flickering screen that takes place when I run the Expo plugin in
Ubuntu 12.04. Note
that I can no longer correctly use the unmaintained PPA that previously solved
the problem.

At this point, is the only way to resolve this problem to upgrade to
Ubuntu 12.10?

What is the timeline for having the fix appear in Ubuntu 12.04?

[Compiz] [Bug 998073] Re: unity hides minimize event from application

Same thing with Emacs. If an Emacs frame/window is minimized with Unity,
the frame's internal visibility state is not updated to reflect that.

[Compiz] [Bug 1039155] Re: Unity fails to load on old hardware (blank desktop; only wallpaper). Missing automatic fallback to LLVMpipe when unity_support_test fails

2012-10-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package compiz - 1:0.9.8.4-0ubuntu2

---
compiz (1:0.9.8.4-0ubuntu2) quantal; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/unity_support_test.patch:
- force llvmpipe in the unity profile if we are in the grey zone, meaning:
the card and drivers have opengl support, however, it doesn't met unity
requirements (opengl < 1.4, no vertex shaders support…). Thanks duflu
  (LP: #1039155)
Note that we already discourage them to upgrade from precise to quantal
with a warning before the upgrade, however let's get a slow ui rather
than none on the iso as well.
