[Compiz] [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity Global Menu
@Pedro: no offense but I'd say new designs are not the issue here. It was pretty much established months ago. We're just waiting for implementation and some voice from the devs camp to explain what's going on. What's stopping them from implementing and publishing the fix. [Compiz] [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity Global Menu
When the app opens, show the menu bar for a few seconds, then hide it. Warning: the menu bar floats above the app content, because they're layers. for consistency: window controls are always visible and appear by the left of the title in non-maximized windows, so they should be always visible and appear there too in maximized windows for discoverability: google mobile is going to use three horizontal lines to represent a list and shows the Google service and product list when clicked, so instead of showing the menu bar for a few seconds, then hiding it, we could use an yellow icon with three vertical lines inside a circle by the right of the window title that represents a list and shows the menu bar when hovered or touched (These two wishes are very good for tablets, because we don't keep track of the user's finger position in the air, so the user won't hover anything, so the user will see the icon and intentionally touch it.) I hope Emerald does not get forgotten and someone can fix this, because it is still by far the best window decorator available, coupled with a great theme manager and possibilities for the power user to adjust window decorations in both looks and functionality. [Compiz] [Bug 892012] Re: Window management - When a semi-maximised a window is maximised and then restored, the window position jumps and window size changes so the the window title bar is sometimes
Reverting bug to triarged as issue is not completly fixed, see note added to top of description. ** Description changed: + Note: reverting bug to triarged because the fix is not complete. When + tested the correct behavour of "the window should return to exactly the + same state it had at the beginning of step 1." is not fulfilled. + + --- + Window management - When a Semi-maximising a window is maximised by clicking on the window decorations and then returned to the semi- maximised state, the window position jumps so the the window title bar is hidden underneath the top bar. One way reproduce the bug: 1. Take a restored window 2. Semi-maximise the window 3. Press CTRL + SUPER + UP ARROW to maximise the window 4. Click on the 'restore' window decoration to return the window to the restored state state. What currently incorrectly happens: - After performing step 3, the window returns to a weird state where it is restored, but in the size and shape of a semi-maximised window, and the position is also offset from what would be expected from a semi-maximised window. This is especially problematic because in some cases the window is positioned so that all of the window title bar is underneath the top bar, making it impossible for a user to move the window without knowing a keyboard shortcut. See the attached screencast "window_positioning_issue.ogv" to see the bug in action. (In the screencast this bug is reproduced using the window decorations instead of the Alt+F10 shortcut, which won't be possible after bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/796594 is fixed) Desired behavour: - On pressing the 'restore' window decoration in step 4 of the bug reproduction instructions, the window should return to exactly the same state it had at the beginning of step 1. - When fixing this bug, also review and look at fixing bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/796594 as these issues are related --- Another way to reproduce the bug: 1. Semi-maximise the Thunderbird main window 2. Press the 'restore' window decoration (button on the far right of the 3 button cluster) What currently incorrectly happens: - The window jumps up so that the window title bar in underneath the top bar What should happen - The window should return to it's previous 'restored' state. ** Changed in: compiz Status: Fix Released => Triaged ** Changed in: unity-distro-priority Status: Fix Committed => Confirmed ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892012 Title: Window management - When a semi-maximised a window is maximised and then restored, the window position jumps and window size changes so the the window title bar is sometimes hidden underneath the top bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/892012/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1065578] [NEW] GIMP/Inkscape/Blender (and possible more)-Unity-Integration needs to be improved
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Unlike other applications GIMP (and other applications) don't open maximised if it is closed maximised. When reopened after being closed maximised, the program window is too large for the screen space available and extends below the bottom edge of the screen. This happens at least for me on my Thinkpad Edge with a monitor resolution of 1366 x 768. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: gimp 2.8.2-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-17.28-generic 3.5.5 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Oct 11 18:30:20 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Beta amd64 (20121011) SourcePackage: gimp UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug quantal running-unity -- GIMP/Inkscape/Blender (and possible more)-Unity-Integration needs to be improved https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1065578 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 971051] Re: no alt+tab in gnome classic session
I have done the gconftool-2 --set and the Settings-> Keyboard-> Shortcuts:-> Navigation trick. Then I have launched "metacity --replace" and I finally have a working ALT-TAB (oh god, 5 months without such a feature, it's been killing me), but Metacity does not look the same as my previous "Gnome Classic" setup (no more transparency for notifications i.e.). If someone know the difference between the Gnome Classic and what I now have after calling "metacity --replace", maybe we can move forward and fix this bug for real. Thx. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971051 Title: no alt+tab in gnome classic session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/971051/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
