That gap is not tearing. It's a texture clamping bug. Bug 579688 I
believe.

[Compiz] [Bug 1034154] [NEW] Titlebar tears on stock desktop effects - ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]

2012-10-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This issue is reproducible 100% of the time and I recommend trying the
applications Firefox or Chromium to reproduce it. With stock desktop
effects, minimizing and restoring a window causes the bottom of the
titlebar to tear, causing a very noticeable thick white horizontal line
to appear between the titlebar and the window during the transition.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->

[Compiz] [Bug 1006434] Re: Show desktop plug-in fades windows out and ignores movement and movement direction settings completely once unityshell is enabled

2012-10-16 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
** Changed in: unity
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

** Description changed:

- It fades the windows out/in to hide/show the desktop like the "Fade to
- Desktop" plug-in should do instead of moving the windows out of view
- like it did in the past.
+ [Test Case]
+ Make sure the Fade to Desktop plugin cannot be enabled when Unity is enabled.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ No regression potential.
+
+ Original description:
+
+
+ It fades the windows out/in to hide/show the desktop like the "Fade to
Desktop" plug-in should do instead of moving the windows out of view like it
did in the past.

This is happening because this plug-in and its settings are ignored once
unityshell runs and Unity uses its own code to fade to the desktop
  (unity/plugins/unityshell/src/UnityShowdesktopHandler.cpp/.h).

[Compiz] [Bug 1006429] Re: Fade to Desktop plug-in makes windows disappear completely, getting them back to view solely by pressing "Show Desktop" on the Unity panel again

2012-10-16 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
** Description changed:

+ [Test Case]
+ Make sure the Fade to Desktop plugin cannot be enabled when Unity is enabled.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ No regression potential.
+
+ Original description:
+
+
  To reproduce:

Open a window (CCSM for example) -> Click on the "Show Desktop" Unity
Launcher Icon -> The CCSM window fades out like it is supposed to -> now
click on the CCSM icon, the expected behaviour would be that it fades
into view again, but instead of doing so the icon backlight turns off
like you would have closed CCSM, but it is still opened, just hidden ->
the only known way to get it back to view is to click on the "Show
  Desktop" icon again

In short words: "Fade to Desktop" plug-in is broken once unityshell is
  activated.

  Workaround:

Disable the "Fade to Desktop" plug-in. Unity uses its own code to fade
  to the desktop
  (unity/plugins/unityshell/src/UnityShowdesktopHandler.cpp/.h).

I don't yet understand how evolution-address can make the CPU usage of
compiz high. Unless there's a relevant indicator running under Unity

[Compiz] [Bug 1064866] Re: Compiz is consuming constantly 50%-60% of CPU. That didn't happen with 12.04

2012-10-16 Thread Josep
Nop. Althought I removed the transparency feature the CPU is high, but I
noticed that compiz consuming high cpu is a side effect of another problem.
Evolution-address is eating the whole drive, replicating constantly the
addressbook under the .cache/evolution/addressbook directory. Considering that
my organization has an AD with more than 100k entries, caching the whole GAL is
not a good idea. I don´t know why is making new and new directories under that
path, each of them with 1 Gb files. That evolution process was consuming a lot
of memory making the system to instensively use the swap memory (2Gb phisical +
2 Gb swap). So compiz was using swap space too, making everything impossible to
work with.
So, basicaly I am trying to change from evolution to thunderbir+davmail to
connect through EWS to my exchange ... never understood why not to use
ActiveSync. If Android works fine with Exchange (including pictures of people),
is frustating evolution or any other Linux email client, can't do it ...

This bug has been marked "fix released" for almost two months now, but
the precise-backports doesn't include a fixed package yet. Any chance we
could get a package for testing at least?

[Compiz] [Bug 1063871] [NEW] Problems with Gedit and Compiz Grid plugin

2012-10-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The grid plugin is working with Gedit only using shortcuts. Trying to drag the
top bar against the edges (like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w5OapWK2Xo) doesn't work.
And also, after the window have been resized to the top or bottom corners
(shortcuts Ctrl + Alt + Num_1 /3/7/9), then it will not be possible to drag the
window. To move it again I need first to use the combination
"Ctrl+Super+Left/Right Arrow", to make the window half size of the screen, then
I will be able to move/drag the window again.

Can't tell if the problem is Gedit or Compiz. Till now I didn't
experienced this problem with other programs, it appends only with Gedit
(this is why I thought it could be a problem with Gedit.. but I can be
wrong).

I had the same problem on an installation of Ubuntu 12.10 and on a 12.10
Live version downloaded today (8 October 2012).

2012-10-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, I can confirm this bug is not a problem with my system. It happens
consistently only when I run compiz under valgrind. Without valgrind it
has never crashed.

Strangely however, it seems to be fixed by the fix for bug 1064791,
landing soon. I might be imagining things but I have triple checked.
Seems fixed by lp:~compiz-team/compiz/compiz.fix_1064791.

So this bug remains Incomplete until that fix is released and more
people can verify.
