[Compiz] [Bug 957978] Re: Compiz Scale plugin freeze when Key Bindings Toggle Scale Mode is unchecked

2012-11-21 Thread Marcio Merlone
The check Key Bindings Toggle Scale Mode makes no difference to me,
neither I need to press arrows. I have only bound the initiate on top
left/right corner and this is enough to trigger the bug. It starts the
animation, freezes for some seconds in the middle, and then completes.
Gets worse over time.

[Compiz] [Bug 760645] Re: Unity: a big part of many dialogs go outside of the vertical area of the screen on displays

2012-11-21 Thread Raoul Verveer
From a duplicate, Bug #774254 :

I have worked around this by installing compizconfig-settings-manager
and enabling the Window Rules plugin. You can make a rule
type=Dialog for Maximize. Now all Dialog windows are opened
maximized. You could also make a Size Rule to have dialoges opened at
a fixed size.

This workaround is far from perfect, because it also affects the file
save dialog from Firefox, among others which is very ugly. But at least
all buttons and filetype options are always visible.

I noticed this bug is marked as medium and isn't assigned to anyone as
of yet. I think the priority should be 'high', because vital
functionality is hidden from the screen and the only way to make it
visible is to maximize the dialog window, or move it with Alt+mouse-
drag.

[Compiz] [Bug 878820] Re: Window Management, Keyboard shortcut - The grid keybindings are behaving inconsistently

2012-11-21 Thread cako
Are there any updates on this? We're having the same discussion over at
Bug #879218 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/879218) and everyone
there also agrees that the old behaviour is more desirable. The devs
don't seem to care though :(

[Compiz] [Bug 729979] Re: [nvidia] Windows appear blank white

2012-11-21 Thread triplesqaurednine
@alistair

I'd like to point out something that i have noticed in the last few
days, that contradicts a previous statement of yours;

It's not true to say this is entirely an nvidia bug. After all, this
bug is a regression. It does not happen with any other compositing
window manager, and it does not happen with compiz 0.8.

While you claim this isn't an nvidia bug, i think you are probably
wrong. Likewise saying it doesn't happen in any other compositing window
manager is also wrong. I am easily able to produce blank windows in
Cinnamon if i play with the maximizing animations (i can produce black
windows during transitions, but once the animation finishes - you do end
up seeing the window contents - unlike compiz).

While it is true this is a regression in compiz and that 0.8 doesn't
suffer from this problem - that doesn't by necessity mean that the bug
purely compiz. it could just be that the old codebase hid the issue, or
some other (similar) scenario. I do think this is at least in part a bug
within the nvidia driver, that the OSS drivers do not have.

anyway, I''ve decided to drop compiz (after many years of usage).
Cinnamon is getting to a place where it is a suitable replacement,
replicates enough of compiz' plugins / features and seems less buggy (in
the few days that i have been using it steadily, built from git).

cheerz

[Compiz] [Bug 1078799] Re: Compiz started suddently consume CPU. 70% with i7 processor

2012-11-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. That's excellent. Now it's clear the problem is Unity redrawing
constantly.

While we are working to make Unity redraws more efficient, that's
probably not the main issue here. The main issue is more about what
might be causing Unity to redraw constantly.

Likely candidates you should check:
  * Panel blur: If it's enabled, disable it. Or at least make sure nothing is
redrawing behind it all the time.
  * Indicators: What (non-standard?) indicators do you have? (dpkg -l | grep
indicator). They could be forcing frequent redraws which are too expensive with
Unity right now.
  * Launcher icons: Do you just have a very large number of them?

Also re: multiple monitors: Yes this is still a major performance
problem for Unity. Sorry.

[Compiz] [Bug 1067951] Re: Firefox randomly loses window decoration in Gnome Classic (Compiz)

2012-11-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Some more things worth trying:

* Disable/remove the flash plugin; or

* When the decoration is lost:
   1. Click on the Firefox window.
   2. Alt+Space Minimise
   3. Alt+Tab to the minimized window to restore it.

[Compiz] [Bug 1081889] [NEW] The minimize all windows shortcut doesn't work right

2012-11-21 Thread johnprattchristian

The minimize all windows CTRL+ALT+D doesn't work. It minimizes a few

It minimizes Chrome but keeps Software Center maximized. This has
