[Compiz] [Bug 1085606] [NEW] Alt+middle click resize of VirtualBox VM window causes resize box to freeze
Public bug reported: STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start VirtualBox OSE (currently 4.1.18-dfsg-1ubuntu1.1 installed) 2. Start a virtual machine (Windows or Linux, doesn't matter) 3. Alt+middle click on virtual machine window to resize OBSERVED BEHAVIOUR * Resize focus is lost, leaving the orange resize box stuck above all windows (retains its size even in Expo, i.e. it's above the workspaces) * All resize functionality is lost, including via left click on borders of *any* windows. * Closing the virtual machine window causes the orange resize box to disappear, restores all resize functionality, including window borders and alt+middle click. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR * Orange box should resize as mouse is moved * As middle mouse is released, virtual machine window should resize I'm assuming this is a compiz issue, but something to do with VirtualBox and how it tried to grab input? [Compiz] [Bug 1049214] Re: [nvidia] XSync usage is a massive bottlenecking factor (nvidia performance regression in Compiz 0.9.8+)
It does not make the problem go away for me: it does improve it though: instead of no screen redraws at all, the screen redraws about once every 3 seconds instead. As with vsync enabled, glxgears constantly claims that is it doing 4000 FPS. So I don't think this really fixes the problem at all, it just removes some, but not all, of the xsync calls causing the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049214 Title: [nvidia] XSync usage is a massive bottlenecking factor (nvidia performance regression in Compiz 0.9.8+) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1049214/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1049214] Re: [nvidia] XSync usage is a massive bottlenecking factor (nvidia performance regression in Compiz 0.9.8+)
Yes, I've seen the same issue with nvidia for a long time (before 310). It is horribly slow if you have vsync enabled in the driver and compiz. I suspect the reason is this bug. Nvidia appears to push lots of graphics commands through the X event queue, which no other driver does. So nvidia's hyper-sensitive to X event traffic and can slow down easily. That's the theory. Alistair: Please note that glxgears IS doing 4000 FPS when it says so. Just like any software benchmark it's telling you the number of frames it has rendered per second. In a compositing environment this has absolutely nothing to do with the physical frame rate however. You should use the compiz Benchmark plugin to get the real physical frame rate.

[Compiz] [Bug 1085400] Re: Compiz crashes on load with NVidia 310.19 on Ubuntu 12.10
mikey, The first problem is that compiz/unity thinks your hardware is too old to support Unity. That sounds wrong, so it's possible your nvidia driver is not installed properly. Try uninstalling and re-installing it. The second problem is that fallback mode is not working. For Mesa drivers that would be bug 1066764. However for proprietary drivers that is un-fixable. If your hardware and driver doesn't support Unity then please either find some combination that does work, OR uninstall all proprietary graphics drivers so that the fallback to software mode can work. ** Summary changed: - Compiz crashes on load with NVidia 310.19 on Ubuntu 12.10 + Compiz tries to fall back to software rendering with proprietary graphics drivers that don't support it. ** Also affects: compiz Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: compiz Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085400 Title: Fallback to software rendering (LLVMpipe) doesn't work with proprietary graphics drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1085400/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1085791] [NEW] When pulling a window from docking mouse is drawn off window title.
Public bug reported: When you pull of the dock a Window that's is docked either on the left or right half of the screen. At the moment the window recovers the previous size before it was docked the mouse is not kept over the title bar of the window. To recreate this bug: 1. Take any maximize capable window. 2. Grab it by the title bar. 3. Drag it to the far right of the window causing the preview rectangle to show up and drop the window so it docks on the right half of the screen. 4. Grab the window by the title bar again. 5. Pull it of to the center of the screen. When you complete these steps, the window will re-size back to the normal size it had before you docked it to the half right. But the mouse will be in an odd position and not where it should be. I expected the mouse to stick to the same position relative to that window. If you need more detail and/or a screen capture video of the bug let me know. [Compiz] [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* (* = any key)
Steve, That regression is what I feared. However the dash should only open if you have tapped Super very quickly. Maybe we need to reduce the timeout that Unity uses, since (in order to fix this bug) we can't use reliable tap detection from Compiz any more. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950160 Title: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* (* = any key) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/950160/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 201681] Re: Window management - Cursor position changes relative to window while dragging windows
Fix committed to lp:compiz/0.9.8 at revision 3423. scheduled for release in Compiz 0.9.8.8. Remember these are just the wall plugin fixes. The fix for the snap plugin is already in Compiz 0.9.8.0 and later. Sorry to confuse everyone with two fixes to one bug. Normally this should never happen. It's just that the first fix was never explicitly linked to the bug at all. ** Changed in: compiz/0.9.8 Assignee: (unassigned) = Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) ** Changed in: compiz/0.9.8 Status: Triaged = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201681 Title: Window management - Cursor position changes relative to window while dragging windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/201681/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
