[Compiz] [Bug 1085400] Re: Fallback to software rendering (LLVMpipe) doesn't work with proprietary graphics drivers

2012-12-04 Thread mikey
I discovered the problem was a packaging problem with the nvidia
experimental packages, they apparently didn't include the dependencies
required to actually compile the module so the compilation was failing
without warning resulting in broken drivers.

[Compiz] [Bug 1086036] Re: Compiz crashes when booting to raring live session

2012-12-04 Thread Paul Larson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1060327 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060327

Daniel, can you explain why this was duped to bug #1060327? That bug is
2 months old, and this is a new bug that seems to have just started in
the last couple of days. While it may be possible that the compiz issue
is the same as in this other bug, and may be unrelated to the other
symptoms, I believe the issue stated in the description does not match
what was happening in that earlier bug.

[Compiz] [Bug 1049214] Re: [nvidia] XSync usage is a massive bottlenecking factor (nvidia performance regression in Compiz 0.9.8+)

2012-12-04 Thread Alistair Buxton
Also, I haven't seen any further problems at all with the disabled XSync
which seems strange... it doesn't appear to have any effect at all. I
even added a fprintf to make sure it was really doing something, and it
is being called. Maybe something is polling the queue instead of using
XSync? Or maybe it's a problem with dynamic linking of plugins?

Is there a way to test the above mentioned compiz milestone 0.9.9.0? The
ubuntu-nexus7 ppa doesn't provide it, yet. Thanks in advance.

Paul,

The .crash file shows a stack trace (search for Stacktrace:) that is
identical to bug 1060327. Hence it is bug 1060327.

2012-12-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Alistair,

Sorry; if the freeze stops when you stop dragging a window then maybe
this is the right bug.

More analysis and testing is required. XSync may not be the only
function affecting the event queue bottleneck on nvidia. In which case
the title of the bug might change.

The crash is in the dbus plugin. You will avoid it if you can live

require it.

Please don't load the crashhandler plugin either. That's the reason why

Ok, no worries. I don't normally load the crash handler or KDE, I just
noted that the KDE plugin made compiz crash when I tried to load it many
