[Compiz] [Bug 1171878] Re: Adding/Removing an external monitor causes maximized windows to move to another workspace

2014-04-03 Thread cometdog
I still observe the problem with

$ apt-cache policy compiz
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140328-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140328-0ubuntu1

Example:
4 workspaces, external monitor plugged in. Applications are maximized to
primary monitors in workspaces 2 and 3. Current worspace is workspace 1. When
disconnecting the external monitor, those maximized applications move from
workspaces 2 and 3 to workspace 1.

Expected behavior: maximized applications should remain on their
original workspaces.

2014-04-03 Thread Christopher Townsend
@cometdog,

This bug is specifically about unmaximizing a window once it moves to a
different screen when unplugging a monitor. The issue you describe is
indeed a bug, but should be tracked in a different bug. I'll see if a
bug has already been reported for the issue you describe. If not, then
I'll make one:)

[Compiz] [Bug 1302098] [NEW] Windows cascading mode cause segfault

2014-04-03 Thread Jing Wang
Public bug reported:

I found a critical bug in compiz, the x-window-manager.

Ubuntu version : 12.04.4 LTS
compiz version : 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu3

The test case is as below.
1) Set the window placement option to cascade mode.
- run gnome-terminal and then type sudo gconftool-2 --type int --set
/apps/compiz-1/plugins/place/screen0/options/mode 0
OR
- run gconf-editor(At first, install gconf-editor from software center) and
then go through /apps/compiz-1/plugins/place/screen0/options/ and the set
modevalue to 0

2) Run gnome-terminal and then repeat opening new windows about 30
times.(using shortcut key Ctrl+Alt+T)
(OR run nautilus file manager and then repeat opening new windows about 30
times (using shortcut key Ctrl+N))

It is Note for you: Although you reproduce this bug, your Ubuntu will not
break. System restore is very simple. Please try log out and log in again. And
then try resetting as following.
run gnome-terminal and then type sudo gconftool-2 --type int --set
/apps/compiz-1/plugins/place/screen0/options/mode 2
(OR - run gconf-editor(At first, install gconf-editor from software center)
and then go through /apps/compiz-1/plugins/place/screen0/options/ and the
set modevalue to 2)

[Compiz] [Bug 1192028] Re: Compiz refresh rate resets to 50 Hz automatically

2014-04-03 Thread Scott Deagan
Just jumping in with a me too. I've just installed the nightly 14.04,
and it's extremely choppy. I go in to ccsm, untick Detect Refresh Rate
and then set Refresh Rate to 60. Most of the time, if I close ccsm
then open it again, Detect Refresh Rate is still unticked, but
Refresh Rate is null (empty string - no value there) and everything is
still choppy. I have to keep opening ccsm and typing in 60 for
Refresh Rate numerous times before it actually works.

Please don't let 14.04 go out with this bug as it will ruin everything!
IMHO, if you only fix one more bug before releasing 14.04, it should be
this one.
