[Compiz] [Bug 1293384] Re: Compiz CPU usage dramatically increased in Ubuntu 14.04
I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on bare metal, and yet compiz is eating CPU and desktop effects are slow IF the cpu loaded with something, even if the load is niced. I've tried the UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1 compiz setting above and it makes no difference. I am running stock intel drivers on Haswell c/gpu. Why does it say my hardware is not supporting Unity? 12.04 had no problems with that. $ compiz --replace compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: core compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: core compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: ccp compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: ccp compizconfig - Info: Backend : gsettings compizconfig - Info: Integration : true compizconfig - Info: Profile : unity compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: composite compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: composite compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: opengl compiz (core) - Info: Unity is not supported by your hardware. [Compiz] [Bug 1317787] [NEW] High Compiz UPS usage while audio is playing (in Audacious)
Public bug reported: I noticed that compiz CPU usage was a little on the high side after I noticed some sluggish desktop performance. I opened up htop and noticed that the CPU usage was only high when audio was playing. I use Audacious as my music player. The high CPU usage continues as long as audio is playing, regardless if the audacious window is visible or not. I recorded a video with recordmydesktop and attached it, for easier viewing it is also available on youtube http://youtu.be/L6H9cQ0pKBs Notice how Compiz starts out nice and low CPU usage, then as soon as I begin playing audio it spikes up and stays high, even as I minimize the window. Then I stop the audio and CPU usage returns to normal.
