[Compiz] [Bug 964270] Re: Ubuntu forgets keyboard shortcuts after a restart

2014-06-22 Thread Diep Pham Van
This bus is very annoying. I don't want to use HUD, so I remove Alt key
binding from System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts, but after a
while, it got reset and I have to unbind it again.

Just installed the patched package and updated to 340.17 -- still
getting flickering :(

Using 14.04 + latest updates to it.

[Compiz] [Bug 1288747] Re: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse

2014-06-22 Thread Francisco Disraeli
I'm starting to suspect there's a memory leak in this compiz package,
though I don't have the exertise to verify. All I can offer is that
compiz has a size of 1.6 GiB in memory at the moment, which seems
excessive for this program. I'm finding that my system is paging
occassionally, which I never recall having problems with before.

I attach a screenshot of `htop' showing the stats for compiz. Does it
seem about right to be using this much memory? (more than firefox!?)

Cheers.

[Compiz] [Bug 1332963] [NEW] laptop with docking station hangs on purple boot screen if booted without dock

2014-06-22 Thread th3hamm0r
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm updating my packages as often as
possible.

Since the last update (posted some lines from the dpkg.log below) my laptop,
which is usually attached to a docking station with two external monitors, only
works if it is booted while in the dock.
When I boot the laptop without sitting in the dock, the screen of the laptop
stays in the purple boot screen of ubuntu. If I put the laptop back into the
dock, the two external monitors automatically display the login screen (the
purple screen stays on the laptop's screen).
Also interesting: If the system is booted and the laptop is in the dock (output
is shown on both screens), I can remove the laptop and the output switches to
the laptop screen automatically.

Before those updates I was able to boot the laptop with or without being
attached to the dock. Also it was no problem to plug it in and remove it
from the dock while running. The system always automatically switched
between the laptop-only-mode and the dual-external-screen-mode.

Laptop HW:
Lenovo T420
Nvidia NVS 4200M / Intel HD 3000 (Optimus)

Here are some lines of the dpkg.log where I think they belong to the
update which causes those problems:

By purple boot screen of Ubuntu do you mean it hangs before the
LightDM login screen appears?

[Compiz] [Bug 1332994] [NEW] compiz 100% cpu on boot

2014-06-22 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 14.04
Video card: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GSE
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
CPU: dual core Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140423-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140423-0ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-video-intel:
  Installed: 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1
Monitors: 2
Display resolution: 1024x600, 1024x768, arranged top-bottom

When I boot up, I confirm that compiz is using up to 100%-150% cpu.
When I take monitor 2 off I notice compiz use drops but not to 0 -- it drops to
around 50% (still rather high compared to the ~10% it typically runs at)

running

compiz --replace

in a shell without environment variables triggers compiz to restart
without 100% cpu use allowing system to be usable

1) unity --replace also seems to reload compiz (will test this more)
2) disabling vertex buffer doesn't seem to do anything
3) got full trace, seems consistent across 100%cpus:

[Compiz] [Bug 1332963] Re: laptop with docking station hangs on purple boot screen if booted without dock

2014-06-22 Thread th3hamm0r
Yeah exactly, sry!
But it looks like the login screen is already present, but not on the laptop's
screen.
It seems like the system uses the external monitors, even if they are not
connected. Because if I type something and hit enter (like I would do on the
login screen) and afterwards put the laptop into the dock, I can see the wrong
credentials-warning on the login-screen displayed on the external monitors.

Maybe this helps too:
* Most of the time the laptop is in the dock and I leave the lid always closed
in this case. So I'm only using the two external monitors. I installed the
above updates in this state.
* During the day before this update I booted the laptop without sitting in the
dock with no problems.
* nvidia-settings only displays the two external monitors, the display settings
of Ubuntu also shows the laptop's display (but disabled). But as I can
remember, this was always the case.

[Compiz] [Bug 969039] Re: HUD appears when tapping Alt+Left very quickly

2014-06-22 Thread Bob M Brown
This bug describes a behaviour that I'm currently seeing although not
with arrow keys. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with Unity 7.2.0. The
behaviour I've noticed affects key combinations EXCEPT arrow keys and
isn't an issue when I first boot my machine.

My machine has been running for 3.5 hours and now I've started noticing
that Alt-D especially as it's part of my workflow to put the focus in
the Chromium addressbar triggers the HUD popup. When I first boot this
is not a problem. Other combos like Alt-F pop up the file menu for a
brief moment and then the HUD pops over closing the menu.

As initially reported if I hold Alt for slightly longer and then press
the key I want then this does not happen.

[Compiz] [Bug 1333046] [NEW] Connected external monitor causes headbar transparent display bug

2014-06-22 Thread plum
Public bug reported:

Thinkpad X230 with IVY HD4000 display card,Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with lastest
upgrade,I've set Unity headbar with 80% transparent.

when connceted to an external monitor after system boot,I moved mouse
pointer on headbar to click appmenus, then I found it turn black and no
more transparent,quite ulgy.

But when I connceted to an external monitor before system boot,It's
okay.

And this only effected on the main display monitor, for me it only
effect on my laptop screen and its okay on external monitor.
