[Compiz] [Bug 1551986] Re: [FFe][UIFe] HUD hotkey assignment is suboptimal

2016-04-13 Thread Adam Conrad
FWIW, despite the lateness in the cycle, I'm 100% supportive of moving
the HUD away from Alt. That was (as has been pointed out) a pretty poor
decision from the get-go, and it's the one key I've always had to remap
locally to fix.

What I'm not okay with is fixing ONE bad binding by moving TWO. Alt-
Space is a well-known binding that people have been using literally for
decades.

If you want something that has a comfortably similar feel to Alt-Space,
Super-Space is just one key over, and doesn't appear to currently do
anything, but please don't break two bindings to fix one. Pretty
please. With sugar on top.

[Compiz] [Bug 1299741] [NEW] Shadows shouldn't wrap around to other workspaces

2014-03-30 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:

I suppose this could be seen as a matter of design opinion but, in my
opinion, it's incredibly ugly. To reproduce, launch a whole bunch (10,
20, a lot) of windows on workspace 2, and position them on or near the
right edge. Then switch to workspace 1, and observe the massive black
blob on the left of the screen. This really doesn't make a whole lot of
sense visually, and it's pretty ugly, IMO.

[Compiz] [Bug 1291568] [NEW] Clicking resize handle (sometimes) snaps window borders to screen edge

2014-03-12 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:

This is about 75% reproducible on my machine, and hard to put into
words, so I've recorded a video. What's happening is that when I click
on the resize handle, the window borders immediately snap to the right
and bottom (sometimes just bottom) edges of the screen. Debugging
attempts so far:

1) disabling 'grid' plugin had no effect
2) changing resize mode to 'normal' had no effect (except that, obviously, the
window blows out instead of just the resize outline)
3) playing with edge attraction settings in 'snapping windows' plugin appeared
to have no effect

[Compiz] [Bug 1282304] Re: Bottom-edge window placement doesn't take decoration height into consideration

2014-03-06 Thread Adam Conrad
So, this was close, but not quite right. The attached screenshot of my
old testcase (hitting Ctrl-Alt-T 4 times) now shows my terminals
*almost* hitting the bottom and right edges, but not quite. Still a
regression from saucy, though a much less nasty regression than having
them off the screen.

[Compiz] [Bug 1282782] [NEW] Newest compiz/unity has decided that it owns my Alt key

2014-02-20 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:

gnome-terminal has a setting that intentionally stops Alt grabs for
menus (Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts - Enable Menu Access), which I've
always used to allow me to type Alt-F (and others) in my terminals.
In the past, this always worked great, and I could type Alt-F in, say,
mutt, to change my From address.

As of the latest uploads, I'm now reduced to the awkward Esc-F, because
Alt-F brings up the file menu, no matter how much I wish it wouldn't.
Pretty please fix this regression.

(I assume the same annoyance would be happening on my attempts to use
Alt-[1-0] in irssi, if gnome-terminal had a menu whose shortcut was a
digit, but thankfully it doesn't.)

[Compiz] [Bug 1282304] [NEW] Bottom-edge window placement doesn't take decoration height into consideration

2014-02-19 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:

With the new compiz, bottom-edge window placement doesn't take
decoration height into account, and thus leads to placing windows
slightly off-screen. Easily reproducible by hitting Ctrl-Alt-T four
times and noting that the top top-edge terminals are placed correctly,
but the two bottom-edge ones are placed just below the bottom of the
workspace.

2014-02-19 Thread Adam Conrad
Public bug reported:

When you repeatedly undecorate and redecorate a window with the new
compiz, it shrinks vertically on each iteration by a title-bar's height.

Reproducible in totem or mplayer by loading a movie and hitting f
repeatedly to swap fullscreen and window mode over and over. You'll see
it shrink veritcally each time until all you have left is a title bar in
mplayer's case, or some minimum window size is reached, in totem's case.

2014-02-19 Thread Adam Conrad
Note, this is probably related to bug #1282304, but as they describe two
distinct behaviours, I filed two distinct bugs.
