[Compiz] [Bug 1438422] Re: Hybrid laptop's accelerometer tilt interpreted as WiFi hardware switch

2015-04-18 Thread Dave Gilbert
I'm tempted to think this is a bug either in the kernel, X or the input
handling - because it seems more to do with what the interpretation of
key input (that happens to be how the accelerator signals?) than actual
actions. What happens if you try booting with 14.10 kernel but leave
everything else the same?

[Compiz] [Bug 1121231] Re: /home/.compiz-1/session filling up with old session-id files

2013-02-10 Thread Dave Gilbert
Low: They're tiny files so it's unlikely they'll cause disk space
problems; but it should be fixed.

[Compiz] [Bug 735250] Re: Please disable live viewport previews by default for Desktop Wall plugin

2012-02-04 Thread Dave Gilbert
Setting to wishlist as requested.
To be honest, I rather like the previews (and miss them on KDEs switcher).
Obviously I can't read the contents of the windows, but I can see whether I'm
switching to the workspace with my browser on or the one where I've got a pile
of terminals; so I'd disagree with changing the current behaviour.

[Compiz] [Bug 743634] Re: Wall of desktop mouve wrong window

2011-03-27 Thread Dave Gilbert
Interesting; I can recreate this if there is a maximised window in the
workspace to the left of the window I'm trying to move.

So in my case I have a 3x3 grid of workspaces;

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

If in (2) I have a maximized firefox and I try and move the aisleriot in (3)
the firefox moves.
If I unmaximise the firefox I can move aisleriot.

[Compiz] [Bug 708520] Re: unity-window-decorator crashed with SIGFPE in decor_blend_border_picture()

2011-02-05 Thread Dave Gilbert
Sam:
In my case it's not 100% repeatable, but it seems to be related to opening or
maximising firefox windows.
If you look in the bug 710184 (dupe) you'll see the backtrace and exact line I
got:

[Compiz] [Bug 58977] Re: Maximizing ignores docked panles with Xinerama

2011-01-30 Thread Dave Gilbert
It's more complicated than that; as I remember (from a couple of years
ago when I posted the patch in #6 above) there are limitations in the
'strut' notification where a window tells the window manager to avoid an
area; it can't really cope with an arbitrary area in the middle of the
screen. So really it's a standardisation issue that the wm and panel
need to understand; although heck knows if any of that has changed in
the last couple of years.

[Compiz] [Bug 657627] Re: Crash on adding second monitor with gnome-display-properties.

2010-10-10 Thread Dave Gilbert
So if I'm right and it is a hardware limitation that 3d doesn't work greater
than 2048 horizontal then it
still seems bad for compiz to crash rather than something having stopped you
first.

Not sure what the right package is for it; I could believe it's the monitor
setting thing+xserver+compiz one of them should
stop you doing something that will break it.

[Compiz] [Bug 657627] Re: Crash on adding second monitor with gnome-display-properties.

2010-10-10 Thread Dave Gilbert
Hi Martin,
At first I thought this was an instance of bug 619663 - but then I noticed
that you are on Lucid and the symptoms are different.

Can you include a copy of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log from when it happened
(or /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old if you just restarted after it).

1) Did you ever have this work with compiz on that machine on an earlier
version?
2) Does it happen if you tell X that one monitor is above the other rather than
side by side?

I ask (2) because there are some limits in the i945 hardware when it's
doing a display wider than 2048 pixels, some acceleration features don't
work, and I wondered if you are hitting that.
