[Compiz] [Bug 111939] Re: Alt-Tab - Not possible to alt-tab during a drag-and-drop operation

2018-07-02 Thread Didier Roche
You will have to reimplement something similar to what Unity switcher
did I think. The implementation is different, so it needs to be a proper
implementation.

[Compiz] [Bug 1423566] [NEW] Removal of migration scripts (both MATE and ubuntu one)

2015-02-19 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

Accepting 1:0.9.12.1+15.04.20150213-0ubuntu1, but the migration script
should be checked.

For reference, IRC discussion:
didrocks | Mirv: why is there this remove unity script on upgrade?

didrocks | Mirv: the default profile plugin doesn't use unity for mate

didrocks | (see debian/mate.ini)

didrocks | Mirv: all the rest is good, but this part should be clarified

didrocks | bregma: yeah, I see it's a copy of my own migration script a while
ago, but this was to transition from default to ubuntu session (and so,
leave the default session with compiz without unityshell)
didrocks | bregma: If I'm right and can still read my code, no promise :p

didrocks | bregma: yeah, it's not really a biggy but I feel it's not of use
(and will just create a delay at startup), so better to check

didrocks | bregma: maybe you can even clear my old migration script, the LTS
has passed :)
bregma | didrocks, would it be acceptable to promote the current MATE changes
as-is and open a bug to remove all the migration stuff before Vivid release?

[Compiz] [Bug 1037164] Re: Clicking on snapped windows in a different workspace produce unexpected results

2012-12-06 Thread Didier Roche
Not completely related to snapped only window, but rather if height of a
window == height of the screen (minus decorator size and so on).

So on a setup with, 2 monitors (one above the other), the biggest one being on
top.
1. Have a window whose height match the above rule ^ on the bottom monitor (so
maximized, vertically semi-maximized or non maximized window but manually
making the size fitting that).
2. switch ws
- the window jumps on the 1st monitor.

[Compiz] [Bug 1050237] Re: No wallpaper and windows leave trails, if ubuntu-default-settings overrides are not available

2012-09-13 Thread Didier Roche
From the discussion on IRC:
- nautilus upstream is not drawing the desktop (gnome-shell is doing it for
itself)
- we do have an override in ubuntu-default-settings to ask nautilus to draw the
desktop

Consequently, without it, you won't have anything to refresh the
background, which seems broken but it the normal behavior.

However, we can't force that for everyone as it will break other
sessions for no good reason and the ubuntu-default-settings is installed
by default on ubuntu (and so people don't get this bug).

If you want to ensure that compiz is grabbing it (or maybe unity), we
can maybe make unity dep on this configuration, but that's still
incorrect IMHO.

[Compiz] [Bug 1046190] [NEW] Migration to gsettings doesn't migrate compiz/unity configurable keys to g-c-c and those keys doesn't work

2012-09-05 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

From the test case TESTING THE MIGRATION from bug #1035261

1. open gnome-control-center, go to the keyboard shorcut panel
2. open, systems
- notice that the keys are disabled by default, (same in launchers,
navigation and other compiz/unity contents)
-- on a migrated session, the keys should be migrated and appearing here
-- on a guest session, the default keybindings should be shown.

Note that this only impact the g-c-c org.compiz.integrated keys. Those
are not migrated nor have a default value (even if I disagree and that's
an hackish workaround).

What needs to be done:
1. migrate the current compiz gconf profile keys to .integrated scheme as well
2. set default values for those so that a guest session shows default values
for them.

[Compiz] [Bug 1035261] Re: Port compiz to gsettings and consequently remove unity-2d

2012-08-17 Thread Didier Roche
** Description changed:

Porting compiz and so unity to gsettings has a lot of consequences:
  - compiz:
    * remove the conffile for 2nd (autologin) fallback mechanism
    * build with gsettings support
    * add migration scripts
    * add xml files for the g-c-c integration (we used the metacity ones before)
  - unity :
    * gconf - gsettings patches (2)
    * rebuild with the new gsettings compiz
    * add transitional packages for all unity-2d packages
    * add migration scripts
  - nux:
    * remove the X11 Xsession.d detection script
  - gnome-control-center:
   * should be ported in both the keyboard part by reverting the gsettings
revert patch
   * in the unity background configuration panels to support gsettings
   * in the display configuration panels to support gsettings
  - gnome-settings-daemon to drop the gsettings revert patch:
  - metacity should be updated to 2.34.2 (gsettings integration, shared with
compiz). Sync back with debian, demote to universe - this forces us to drop a
lot of patches to make unity-2d running
  - consequently, dropping unity-2d because of metacity patches won't be
ported, and unity-2d isn't maintained to port from gconf to gsettings:. Removal
from the archive
  - lightdm to transition people from unity-2d to unity-3d session
  - unity-greeter to drop hardware detection capability for nux
  - gnome-session to drop the unity-2d session and recommends
  - release-upgrader in precise to detect if the card can't run unity-3d, and
if so, show a warning to tell to stay on the LTS
  - ubuntu-desktop seed to remove dep on unity-2d

People forcing the upgrade or installing on a machine without hardware
acceleration will then use unity with llvmpipe.

  ---
  WHAT IS REMAINING:

ubuntu-release-upgrade - we will deal that with mvo later on.

all components that are fix commited (apart unity):
- - bzr pull the vcs and bzr push it
+ - bzr pull the vcs, release and dput it

Unity: Take lp:~didrocks/unity/gsettings-transition as the packaging branch
  - build with latest compiz, check compiz version for build-dep (if not
shipped in a new tarball)
  - ship the .convert script for the unity part (sil has it), in a .install
  - ensure this script migrate the HUD key as well.
  - add the dependency on compiz-gnome version shipping the script

Compiz: take lp:~didrocks/compiz/gsettings-transition as the packaging branch
rev 3298 introduced the migration script
  - merge all the gsettings branch (create a new snapshot tarball?), ensure
they have the xml for g-c-c ones as well. The g-c-c xml files should be
installed and handled.
  - ship the transition script use debian/compiz-gnome.migrations (prepared)
for that and ship the .convert files as usual (in a .install)

-
  TESTING THE MIGRATION:

  1. have the old g-c-c, change unity values in it (launcher size, hide mode…),
change keybindings (a lot of them in different categories, launcher,
navigation… like changing workspace keys)
  2. install new g-c-c (lp:~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-control-center/ubuntu),
compiz, unity with all the settings migration
  3. logout/login
  4. check that the keys are transitionned to the new system: launcher
size/hide mode are the changed values and corresponds and the values are shown
in the new g-c-c. Same thing with the changed keybidings.
