[Compiz] [Bug 1778817] Re: release upgrade from xenial to bionic desktop: screen locks itself, password to unlock fails

2018-07-04 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I can reproduce first part of the problem during an upgrade from 17.10
to 18.04 and the screen locks during the upgrade. It locks before u-r-u
issues the inhibit command and proceeds with the upgrade with the screen
locked.

[Compiz] [Bug 1778817] Re: release upgrade from xenial to bionic desktop: screen locks itself, password to unlock fails

2018-07-04 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I reproduced the second part of the problem (screen locks and fails to
unlock) after upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 and before restarting the
machine (finish the upgrade, close the upgrader and wait until the
screen saver goes off)

The following lines are displayed in the journal:
juil. 04 09:27:07 ubuntu compiz[1692]: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_unix.so):
/lib/security/pam_unix.so: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d'objet partagé: Aucun
fichier ou dossier de ce type

fichier ou dossier de ce type
juil. 04 09:27:07 ubuntu compiz[1692]: PAM adding faulty module: pam_systemd.so

However I didn't reproduce the "lock screen during upgrade" issue even with a
config prompt during upgrade.

[Compiz] [Bug 1191853] Re: gtk-window-decorator crashed with SIGSEGV in wnck_window_get_actions()

2013-07-17 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
** Description changed:

gtk-window-decorator crashes each time I close a firefox window in which
  I had a google hangout.
+
+ TEST CASE:
+ (Note: There is probably a shorter or more obvious test case, but that's how
I reproduce it systematically on several systems)
+ 1. Open a new tab in Firefox and start a Google hangout
+ 2. Detach the tab to new window (right-click on the tab, and select "Move to
new window" in the contextual menu)
+ 3. Right-click to title bar of the newly open window and select "Always on
top" and "Always on visible workspace" in the contextual menu.
+ 4. Chat with your friends for a bit
+ 5. Close the window
+
+ ACTUAL RESULT
+ This crash and windows decorations are gone. To recover the decoration, open
a terminal and run "gtk-window-decorator &" then close the terminal with CTRL+D
(not the close button of the terminal, that'd kill the decoration too)
+
+ EXPECTED RESULT
+ The window closes without crash

[Compiz] [Bug 969860] Re: [fglrx] compiz uses 100% CPU when screen turns off

2012-04-02 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
- Setting "Wait for vertical refresh" to "On, unless application specifies"
doesn't work.
- But setting enable "Force full screen redraw (buffer swap) on repaint" in
CCSM does work.

strace shows that compiz loops on
ioctl(12, 0xc00c645c, 0x7fff3791e1f0) = 0

where 12 is /dev/ati/card0

Daniel, I'd be happy to provide stack snapshots with gdb if you'd tell
me how. Thanks for your help.

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => High

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Canonical Desktop Experience Team
(canonical-dx-team)

** Description changed:

  TEST CASE:
  1. Monitor compiz CPU usage (from /proc//stat or top in batch
mode)
- 2. In "brightness and lock" settings set "Turn screen off when inactive" to 1
minute"
+ 2. In "brightness and lock" settings set "Turn screen off when inactive" to 1
minute
  3. Wait until screen turns off
  4. Move mouse or press a key to turn screen back on
  5. Check the CPU usage from the monitor

  ACTUAL RESULT:
When screen turns off compiz goes to 100%
When the screen turns back on, cpu usage drops immediately to a normal value
The graph attached shows %CPU of compiz with a sample per second. The graph
has been captured on a system with a Radeon HD5770 and fglrx if that matter

[Compiz] [Bug 969860] [NEW] compiz uses 100% CPU when screen turns off

2012-03-31 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

TEST CASE:
1. Monitor compiz CPU usage (from /proc//stat or top in batch
mode)

The graph has
been captured on a system with a Radeon HD5770 and fglrx if that matter

I'm lowering importance because 1) it is not easy to reproduce and seems
to requires very specific conditions to be triggered 2) restarting the

[Compiz] [Bug 851345] Re: compiz crashes on i915 graphic module with GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing

2011-10-04 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
after a day testing, I've finally been able to reproduce but still
didn't find a pattern to do it reliably. It seems to happen after a
system upgrade.

lightdm logs are attached.

I noticed that each time it happens there is the following message in syslog
Oct 4 23:55:32 white kernel: [ 175.787767] init: lightdm main process (909)
killed by ABRT signal

I'll attach the list of packages that have been updated to next comment.

[Compiz] [Bug 830949] Re: [Intel N10 Graphics] Plugging in external monitor to VGA port makes both displays corrupted with thick slanted lines

2011-10-04 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Per discussion with DX team on IRC
jibel: that looks like a driver bug to me
 hrm
jibel: mark it a dupe of that max gl texture size bug
* Saviq|lunch is now known as Saviq
there's a plugin I can enable to work around that problem but we
can't enable new plugins for O
* tseliot1 has quit (Leaving.)
 smspillaz, ok, so that's a won't fix for O and I target to P. I won't
mark it as dupe of 824099 because its purpose was to split 824099 with a bug
per driver.

Could anyone confirm that Chris's fix improved the situation.

[Compiz] [Bug 750386] Re: compiz crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2011-09-27 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I've been able to reproduce (bug 860317)

I opened a session and had a staking problem with the switcher, opened a
terminal and entered "unity --reset" to see if it improved things.

Since I didn't run the command in the background and couldn't close the
terminal, I opened another tab and entered the command again "unity
--reset &"

I tested alt-tab again to check if it fixed the problem (it did, at
least for that session) then closed both terminal tabs with CTRL+D, this
crash happened on close of the terminal
